Holding Tank Size

Hello guys, it been a little while since I've been on here and I have a question. My friends asked me to come to the local camping show tonight and look over a camper they are interested in. It looks great lots of really nice options and upgrades but after looking if over here at home I found one thing thats really bothering me.

Both my campers a puma tt and now a sabre 5er have has big or what I thought was normal black and grey water tanks. I've never really thought much about it unless I was on a week long run at the same site.

Well I gave them my blessing on this camper they are looking at its a 270BH lightweight fiberglass tt and both the black and grey tanks are only 26 gallons!!! do you think this is a typo? do any of you think this will be alright? Seems really small next to my 80 and 40. I want to call them right now but thought I'd ask everyones thoughts on here maybe thats not a big deal? What are your thoughts?

Our first trailer had a 45 gallon freshwater tank, and a 28 gallon gray and black tank. It worked for us for 11 years. We could go five days with full hookups before having to dump the black tank. Three days was about our limit for dry camping. Of course it was just the two of us. Jerry.

This is strictly an opinion based on our personal preferences and how we camp, but the 26 gallon tanks would definitely be a Deal Breaker for us. The Black tank at 26 would be manageable, but the Grey tank just wouldn't cut it.

Our first travel trailer had 30-30-30 tanks basically and we didn't have an issue with the Black, but the Grey was something we had to constantly watch and ration how much water was going down the pipes if we were camping more than a three days or so. The five and seven day places were tough to keep from filling the Grey right up.

Our current unit is 48 Fresh, 30 Black and 60 Grey and we love it. Works out just fine for the three of us. Having said that though, we went from a 24' unit to a 32' unit. Obviously more belly space to accommodate tanks. That may be the challenge they would run into as far as trying to find a 27' unit with much larger tanks than what the one has they are looking at now. I don't really know about what's out there from that standpoint because luckily I haven't had to shop for an RV for a while.

That's kinda what I was thinking, they have the two of them and two young boys. Its a very nice camper. I can't believe they would put such small tanks in it

For 4 people 26 gallons seems too small to me too.

If it is a really good deal, one option could be to get a smarttote external tank. Not ideal, but an option for longer trips.

My last TT had tanks of 28-28-28 (black and 2 greys) which were all insufficient for our use. Tanks of 40+ were on my 'had to have list' when I traded. I bought a Wildcat with 2 50 gal. greys and a 50 gal. black. Ain't ever going back to less than 40 gallon waste tanks.

I can't believe they even make a camper that size 270 so it like 30' long with a queen bed up front and double bunks in the back plus the bathroom has an exterior door so it will probably be used even more. With small tanks that just blows my mind. Must be to keep weight down

When I got tired of my 28 gallon tanks and started research for a new one, I developed my own rule of thumb: "If its model name includes Xlite, extralite, light, etc.), the first thing I must check is the capacity of its waste tanks." That's how some manufacturers make 'em light!

Just my 2 cents, but a gray tank that small would be a deal breaker for me.
