Issue with Columbus Sliding Door

We encountered a surprise this weekend that may be of interest to other Columbus owners. Saturday we took ours in for service. When we arrived, the bedroom sliding entry door had broken off the upper hinge, right next to the attached strap. Glad the dealer was there to see that yes it was in fact strapped properly. He mentioned noticing that some of the more recent model Columbus’ now have two straps. At the very least, the strap tension should be increased.

After picking up our new 320rs and traveling 6hrs back home. I noticed that the bedroom door had come off the hinge and was hanging by the strap. It broke off the rear of the door valence. I hung the door back up and when I shut it and it hit the rear door stop it fell off again. I took the door down and turned the rear hinge around so when the door is opened and hits the door stop it cannot come off.

My dealer fix was to re-attach the hinge/roller and moved the strap to the bottom. I have not had time to determine what else he has done to shore it up. I did notice that the play is now gone.

We had the same issue - and even had to have the rail replaced because evidently while ours was swinging free...we hit a bump and it bent the rail. The dealer has tightened the tension on the strap, but we generally always us a tension rod between the door and the opposite wall to hold it in place.

We've been trying to figure how to mount and use the same sort of locks that the sliding closet doors have.

I picked up my new TT last week and door has fell off twice. Added to the list of repairs

We went camping two weeks ago to the Lake Livinston KOA on the way the door came loose again, this time it broke the screw acting as the door stop. I went to AutoZone and purchase a rubber bushing and used a self tapping screw and installed this in place of the screw now the door has something soft to stop on, one last thing is i made a strap with a snap and installed it at the botom rear of the door angleing up to lift the door when traveling so it takes the pressure off the rear roller.

Great thinking...that should do it, I'll bet.

In our current rig, we had some issues with the sliding door coming open. We bought a hinge lock (folds in the middle for the door to slide open and when flat locks in place). But the door was sliding away from the back stop and bouncing out of the rail. I plan to add that feature in place of the snap strap (to avoid breaking the strap/snap). It is similar to this:

So for all the mods i have done with our door has seem to work. We have traveled on some rough and bouncy roads and door has not given us any more problems. I do like that hinge lock may have to get that and add it to it for added stability.
