landing gear not level

Is the landing gear on the Sabre 33 ckts self leveling? It seems that when we are on level ground the drivers side landing gear leg is one hole shorter than the curbside and the level of the camper is off
Showing the drivers side lower than the curb side.

If I'm understanding you correctly, I'd say they are not self leveling...at least they are not on our 32 RCTS.

But... I figured out how to make fine adjustments. There is a shear pin bolt that holds the horizontal square drive shaft that connected the to landing gear vertical drives. So if you remove either the left bolt or right bolt, you can make fine adjustment bat manually turning the drive screw on the side you want to adjust.

btw... I figured this out when the shear bolt sheared on our left gear. Easy to fix and adj.

Hope this helps!

I think I'm not understanding the question..

But, I put 2x10 and 1x6 blocks, as needed, under my landing gear to have them hit the ground at the same time.

The way I understood it was that on level ground (side-to-side), one gear was one notch lower than ther other.

That's correct. Level ground but left landing gear is one hole higher than the right making the camper list to the left

In that case, then as stated previously, I think this proceedure will work for you:
  1. On level ground (side-to-side) connect to hitch and fully retract landing gear.
  2. Adjust pads so that the landing gear pin is in the same hole on each side. Based on what you told us, one pad should be lower than the other at this point.
  3. Lower landing gear so that the longer of the 2 just meets the ground
  4. Remove the shear bolt on the side that is shorter and pull the square drive shaft away from the screw drive shaft.
  5. Manually rotate the screw drive shater to lower the gear as needed to also just meet the ground. Make sure that you stop it at the correct rotation point so that you can replace the shear bolt.
  6. Re-attech the square drive and tighten the shear bolt.
Hope this works for you. It did for me when I broke a bolt. By the way, I now carry extras.

Good insight. Mine is off about 3/8 to 1/2" from side to side. I know that's not much, but it drives me nuts every time i see the first pad hit the ground! I figured the only way to fix it was with shims under the pads.

Do you think I could get that small of an adjustment by pulling the shear bolt and adjusting the offending leg? Or is the adjustment too coarse by the time you adjust it and line up the hole on the shear pin?

Just curious...how did your shear pin manage to shear off?

The adjustment is very fine. i can't remember, but I'm thinking it might have been 10 or more turns per in. Just look how slow it moves compaired to the rotating square drive shaft.

Thanks for the info. My camper is in storage so I can't go out and look at it but I'm trying to picture where the shear pins are. Any chance that there is a pic available of the area where the pin is located?

PS: I'm going to get some extra shear pins also.

Long time reader but first time poster so hopefully I do this right.
I have a 2012 Sabre 34TBOK and just recently have had problems with the curb side pin shearing off. It was fine the first 10 tme using the landing gear but the last 3 times I have retracted my landing gear the bolt shears off. Just wondering if this may be because the road side gear is unlevel (still slightly extended) causing stress on the bolt when the curb side gear is fully retracted and can't be retracted any more.

I also carry extra shear pins now.

I've had this issue with my Rockwood. I've sheared two bolts, always on the driver's side of the camper, the original and a replacement Grade 8! I carry many extras now! I think my issue was self caused and was when i retracted the gear too far and causes the motor to shift a bit and hit the bolt head and shearing it. Got it leveled out the first time, but didn't spend the extra time the second time round, so I'm about 1/8" to 1/4" off. Need to take a minute soon and adjust as it drives me crazy, even though it is just the right height to put a small yellow foot pad under to level out prior to putting the gear all the way down.

These are actually from one of the slides, but it is the same type of shear pin. Just follow the square drive shaft that connects the 2 landing gear drives to the left or right and you will see a similar looking nut & bolt. Let me know if you need more visuals and I'll snap a few pics next time I go out there.

I hadn't seen that leveler product before. I carry several small poly cutting boards that I use for "fine adjustment" between geard pin holes, but for the money, I think I may give the leg leverler a try...

But...even though there are many ways to adjust the level, I agree with buckeyechuck. I like starting with both gears exactly the same distance from the frame.
