Looking for SABRE input?

Hi
New to the forum, been seriously looking at a sabre rlds trailer, just about to sign on the dotted line, but wanted to check on this forum to ask how othres have faired, we have a crossroads cruiser now, not too happy with some of it's long term durability, but don't want to buy something of the same. The sabre sure looks to be a better built coach, wondering anyone out there has any quality control issues or problems and how palomino handles warranty.
Thanks,

dave and rainy

Dave, the Sabre is made by Palomino RV not Forest River, thus I doubt anyone here owns one.

You may try and find a Palomino Owners forum.

Doesn't Forest River make Palaminos and Sabres?
I looked at the Sabre and thought they were pretty nice, and I liked the full aluminum cage framing. My favorite was the rear living room, I think it was a 29-foot fifth wheel.
Unfortunately, with our drivers licencing laws, I had to stay under 10,000 GVWR on the trailer, and the Sabre was too heavy. Although the dry weight wasn't much more than the Flagstaff we bought, it must have had heavier axles, and that boosted the GVWR.
So, a lightweight nicely-finished trailer, full aluminum cage, and good heavy axles? I'd buy it!

Well that's a new one on me as doing a Google search for Sabre Trailers comes up with Palomino at the top of the list. I guess FR bought them out? They have their own web site separate of FR.

Many web sites selling the Sabre's say they are made by "Palomino" and make no mention that they are made by FR. Wierd.

FR is indeed huge. The list of their products is staggering.

Sabre

Hey Dave,
Was conducting the very same search early this year. I really like the Sabre RLDS also. Never did actually get to view one in person, but looked at many videos and pics.
I was unable to get the price I was looking for so never pulled the trigger on one.
Keep us posted if you decide to buy and let us know what you think.

Hey Dave,

I have a Palomino Sabre 32QBBS, which falls under the Forest River group of companies. All paperwork for warranty etc came from Forest River but Palomino was an independant company for many years.

I love the Sabre and would highly recommend it. I compared it to a number of other similar units and the Sabre beat them all hands down - in my opinion of course. My only issue has been the DVD portion of the Concertone supplied system, but that's a whole different topic. Let me know if you have specific questions.

Sabre owner

We have a 2009 31 ft Sabre REDS.
We love it! The only problem we've had with it is the DVD player, and the dealer has already ordered a whole new system(upgraded). We are trying full-timing this winter in BC. and there have been no other issues.
We have no regrets with this unit at all.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the comments, looks like we are going to order a sabre this week, from american rv in ohio, really the best price around, only concern is warranty, there is no specific sabre dealer nearby, but I think I could go to any palomino dealer if I had a major issue, has anyone have the lazy boy recliner chairs? We thought about ordering them, but found them not to be comfortable, so I guess we will order the standard chairs and maybe shop around for a smaller size recliner. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Dave and Rainy

Doesn't the Sabre come with the Euro recliners? I thought they were pretty comfortable, and looked cool as well.

You've chosen wisely. You'll really like your new Sabre.
I've had a 31 RKTS fiver for 3 years and we still look forward to taking it out camping and traveling.
We've been cross country with no problems.
For the money you won't find a better 5th wheel. The construction is outstanding, it has more standard features than other trailers.
Try the Euro lounge chairs, they are VERY comfortable.
Best of luck.

We own a 2010 Palomino Sabre 31RKDS and we love it. Palomino is associated with FR because we had to have some warranty work done on our fifth wheel and FR had to approve repairs for payment.

HI Riciren,
Were you able to go to any dealer who handles forest river products and get warranty work done, or did you have to go to a palomino specific dealer, or could yuou go to any brand dealer and effect repairs?
Thanks, Dave and Rainy
waiting on our new sabre!

Just thought I would share this with you.

When I was looking at the LaCrosse we passed by a Sabre. My salesman stated they were the best trailers they sold.
Some of what they sell are Flaggstaff, Shamrock, R-Pods, Puma, Sabre, Tracer, Lacrosse, Crusader, Montana, Fussion and Springdale.
The Sabre's were just a little too heavy and a liitle too expensive for us, so we went with the LaCrosse.

Good luck and enjoy that new trailer!
