Maiden Voyage Complete

Well we had our maiden voyage this weekend to Crosswinds Family Campground in Linwood NC. Overall we really love our 34REQS-6. We do have some issues to resolve. Current list- bedroom slide out off track and stuck (see Thread here for more on this.) microwave runs but does not cook/heat. Small Crack in shower plastic wall. Shower door handle keeps falling off. Cabinets above sofa are separating. Chip on floor by front door. Noted during pdi, awaiting parts: Trim by dinette ended too early and is peeling, panel by couch with large scratches, 50 amp plug cover is labeled with 30amp cap, bike rack bolts don't fit when in down position. These are all in addition to the multitude of things we spent 6 hrs at the dealership during pdi getting repaired. We also found a ton of nails, screws, cut off wire ends, aluminum tape and other trash throughout the trailer. I really hope the dealership steps up and fixes these things and if not, I hope I can get forest river to fix it. I'm trying to stay positive as I know there will be new trailer kinks, but there sure is a long list here.

Here are some pics from our trip.

It was great meeting yall too!, don't let the QC issues get you down, its become the norm and not the exception over the past few years. I know that we still have some issues that need to be resolved and they will get fixed after camping season.
hopefully we'll meet again some day, until then, safe travels!!

That's the CG we stayed at for our maiden voyage in our Columbus! Enjoy your Sabre; I'm sure you will after you get the bugs fixed.

I spoke to my dealership today. They are short handed but said they will try to schedule a tech to come help us get the slide closed and either fixed or in to the shop for repairs. They are Hoping to have someone to me in the next day or two. I'm ok waiting for other fixes and even expected a few issues, just surprised how many issues I'm seeing so quickly. Hopefully they get the tech to us soon and get it back on the road before our next trip. Fortunately the next trip is at our membership campground so if we have to cancel we don't lose any money. We do still love our sabre. I hope we are just getting all of the issues out of the way early on so that we will have years of happy usage.

That's good news, as to the problems, normally go away in about a year. Hey they answered the phone didn't they?

We bought it at Bill Plemmons RV World in Raleigh. So far they have bern good to deal with. Short staffed has been a common problem for them but they have at least bern open in communication with me and admitting that is the problem with not getting g something resolved quicker. While I wish I could get faster service, I understand staffing issues and am appreciative that they are at least honest about it. Also at least they are trying to help us instead of ignoring us.

Thank you VinceU for making me laugh about this.

Update -- our Sabre has now been at the dealership for just about two weeks. I spoke with them today for an update. We chose to address just 3 major issues and leave the rest for off-season. They said the slide is fixed and a new microwave is going in today. The shower crack is superficial and not a leak issue. They said the way it was installed, the entire trailer would have to be dismantled to change out the shower, so instead the plan is to get someone to fix the gel coating in the shower. Forest river has approved this but they are having trouble finding someone capable of doing the repair properly. They said the 5er will be ready to pick up by this weekend with the understanding that it will be coming back later for the shower repair as well as the other minor issues. Unfortunately, the gentleman I spoke with was unable to tell me the cause of my slide failure or what the fix was. I will be expecting an explanation of this at pick up and dh plans on checking on the slide wiring fix before bringing it home. So I wanted to say that it appears at this point both my dealership and forest River are trying to do right by us.
