Main A/C

My camper is about 1 1/2 years old and my main A/C has stopped cooling. I had a mobile RV tech check it out here at the campground. The compressor is coming on but the amps are low. Was pulling 6 amps and should've been between 9 to 14 per the tech on a day like today. It was 76 degrees outside and about 78 degrees inside. Unit ran all day the day before and couldn't get the inside to 72 degrees when the outside temp was only 76 degrees. Most likely cause he says is a slow leak in freon. He says it's a sealed unit and not much can be done but replace the unit.

Guess I'll take it back to the dealer to have replaced. Thank goodness it's not real hot this week in myrtle beach and I've got a second unit in the bedroom.

It's only a sealed system because the factory didn't install taps on the system so refrigerant pressure readings can be taken. Last year after taking delivery of ours the bedroom A/C wasn't working properly. I could find a leak on the unit and had read the units were coming from the China plant under charged. I installed access valves and weighed in a factory charge of 18 oz. R410a. My bedroom Unit operating properly now and didn't have another issue all summer. Yes it was under warranty but didn't want to hassle with the dealer so I just fixed it myself.

Took the unit to my dealer and they tested the Main A/C and said it was bad. They changed it out with a new A/C under warranty. They mentioned that Dometic had a bad run and that they had seen quite a few go bad recently.
