New 320

I recently bought a new 320. One of the options listed on this unit was the low profile bedroom a/c. After getting up on the roof it has a regular a/c 13,500btu. A call to the dealer looked into it and all of the new 320 come with the regular size a/c. I got a call from the factory rep. confirmed they don't use the low profile anymore. He offered to remove and install the low profile model but said I would be happier with the regular unit as it is more efficient and quieter. Also they would refund the money for the upgrade difference. For those in the know I would like your thoughts. As for future buyers look at the invoice sheet and see whats on top.

Low profile units tend to be louder and the Dometic units had problems. Our 2013 Columbus 320 RS low profile unit compressor blew on our third trip.
You may also have gained BTU’s with a normal unit, it may be 15,000.

I too discovered this after purchasing our 295 last September. I found the discrepancy at the dealer and they to offered change it. I opted out thinking I better leave well enough alone since I had already found numerous problems. The dealer did give me a refund for the difference. The installed unit works very well, im happy I left it in place. To be on the safe side, I did read the ID tags located and readable on the left side looking forward to verify the BTU's of both units. Also, if you haven't discovered it yet, both units are fully vented in the ceiling. either unit will cool the entire unit. its great at night while sleeping to run the rear unit and not hear it and in the evening while watching TV I run the front unit keeping things very quit in the rear.

I have found no need for the second A/C. One seems to do the job but that may change when we go south for the winters or south west in the summers afer we both retire.

You may when going southwest for summers. Despite all the hype about wind testing and insulation factors, even the “best” fifth wheels struggle, especially in the cap/bedroom area. Many have added insulation…my next project.
