I hate to jump in again as things are going well but please rethink the scotch locks as your choice of wire connectors. They are the worst.

Using the splice method mentioned earlier using soldering and heat shrink is the best with butt connectors somewhere in between the two.

Agree with not using scotch locks. They partially cut the wire. Use a hot glue gun to secure the wires out of sight.

Hey Larry, as far as the street light effect goes and if it effected me, I will just say that I took the path that made sense to me at the time. If I ripped into all that wire it would have been a waste. Measure twice cut once? I just kept on the path if investigation based on what you all recommended. Anyway, you still get pizza and beer.

Went to the rig this AM and sure enough "SHORT" cut the hot wire entering the slide wall from the floor and short gone. So that's that. Jury rigged (sp) a wire from the radio 12V to the puck light switch, reconnected the dining room light switch and all is well in LED land. Everything works, radio plays well. I get no over the air TV where I live so will check out the TV amp at first opportunity but I do not expect any issues. All my connectors arrive tomorrow via Amazon and I will put it all back together later in the week and give myself a good Christmas present. My next post will be when all is done. It's you guys that deserve the present. This only cost me connector and a bit of time and I enjoyed the entire process.

Glad you found the problem. I agree about the scotch locks, they are a bad deal. Butt connectors with built in heat shrink work pretty well. Jay

I got her done today. She is all wired, labeled and back together. I ditched the scotch lock as ordered. I didn't have any AC at the storage yard so I used a butt connector for now. When I bring it to the house next time I will solder the connections at the radio.

Well this thread has 125 posts, not bad. I think the only other topics that would gleam as much interest is if I started one about "the best trailer tires" or the "build quality of the rigs". I think I will pass on both of those

All kidding aside, I know many time we don't see the conclusions of these issues so wanted to post a final note and once again thank all of you for the assistance getting this fixed.

As for the hot /cold causing the short to occur and disappear, more than likely the short occurred on the inside of a curve in the wiring at the location of the short(a metal frame, screw etc). As the temperature increased the wire would increase in length slightly pushing the bare wire away from the short, and when the temperature cooled the wire would shorten slightly and cause the wire to contact the short.
