Possible Solaire QBDSK Purchase

Hello everyone. I have been visiting a local FR dealer for some time. I did, however, recently come across a new, untitled 2013 Solaire QBDSK. Price is at $22900. I have not tried negotiating beyond this dealer price. The reason behind the reduction is a small bubble in the exterior where it appears the vacuum seal didn't entirely bond. Dealer says this happens on occasion. Doesn't appear to be a big issue.

My other choice is Coachman Freedom Express Liberty 298REDS. A very nice looking coach with a layout I prefer. Best price I've found is $27200. A few questions:

- Should I expect reliability for the Solaire to be about on par w/ other FR products? The Solaire obviates some depreciation and I would buy if reliability is acceptable given aggressive pricing
- Is reliability with the Coachman a problem? Seems to be when you look at that forum

Look forward to any comments. BTW, truck is 2013 ford ecoboost, 9600# limit.

Thanks. Chris

You should be able to find some Solaire comments on this forum using the search. Keep in mind that many only come here to share their problems.

SPPD has comments here on his 317BHSK and some problems that he has had. I had some walkthrough issues that I identified that they are fixing now (not big deals) and have otherwise been very happy with our 317BHSK. I have another friend with the 292 who has not had any problems either.

Good luck and enjoy whatever you purchase. I really was drawn to the features for the price paid on the Solaire with the Eclipse package.

I have a Solaire 267 BHSK and we are very happy with it. just some minor knits that i was able to fix myself. I had a power surge once and dealer replaced input cable. We camp about every three to four weeks, last weekend and again this weekend. So i am mystified how some have had the problems they have, different assy line location? Monday morning issues? who knows, we really love ours.

We love our Solaire 269 BHDSK with the Eclipse Package and have had only small issues / adjustments which are pretty normal for a home away from home on wheels. They were addressed quickly and professionally by our local selling dealer. As for the unit you are look at , make sure your selling dealer is able to professionally fix it if it gets worse. Chances are if it is small it may not. We had a similar situation with a new 2008 Shamrock 233 made by FR an nothing ever came of it. It's how they roll the wall when laminating it. Good Luck with your decision!

Lou

We're camping with our 28QBSS as I write this. So far no problems at all. I might get a mattress topper the bed was a little firm last night. I'm very happy with the purchase.

Yeah, we had to do the same thing. I kept waking up with a backache!

Otherwise, we're happy with the camper and had a great time on its maiden voyage a couple of weeks ago.

I am jealous that your 367BHSK has a ladder in the back. My 317 does not

The ladder definitely makes it easy to inspect the caulk. I have a tube of lap sealant and found two small cracks and took care of it right away.
