Puma 26' bad coupler latch

We have a new (manufactured April 2016) Puma 26' lightweight trailer. After several trips, we love it. But we do have a problem: the coupler latch is extremely hard to open and close, usually has to be hammered to lock or unlock the ball. I've never encountered a trailer with this issue before.

Elsewhere in these forums I've learned that I'm not the only one with this problem, and I agree with some of the posters there that the solution is to replace the defective coupler with a higher-quality new one.
I borrowed a photo from that other forum, because it shows the same coupler that I have.
I'm not concerned with factory/dealer warranty issues, not worth the time or trouble. I simply want to purchase a replacement coupler, and take the trailer to a metalworker to have the old coupler replaced. (It's welded to the frame.)

My question is: how can I determine which new coupler to get? I'm assuming they aren't one-size-fits-all.

Any suggestions?

That style (I have it) can be tough. I have never understood why TT don't have a Bull Dog style coupler like on my car hauler and dump trailer. Look into that type if you are going to change. With that said you may be able to do a little adjusting to make the one you have work better. Make sure the ball and your coupler are both greased

Thanks for the input, but no joy. In my OP I should have provided a link to the earlier thread I mentioned. Here it is: http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...se-108177.html

I've already tried all the suggestions offered in the thread, and nothing makes a bit of difference. I'm ready to replace the defective coupler.

Cheers,
Tom
