Rear stabilizer supports ideas, suggestions

Hey guys I'm looking at putting some rear stabilizer supports on my rear stabilizer sicissor jacks. I was wondering if anyone had jacks back this far. I just wanted to get a few thoughts on how you guys did it. (I know my pictures are not great) I know I can run the bars in towards the center of the camper and maybe i have to because there are flush with the back right now but concerned about being able to get to the spot to tighten them.

Anybody have any pictures or ideas of what they have done?

Thanks,

On my fiver, they run at a 45° angle towards the middle/front of the camper. Just one bar on each leg. Works well.

You could put the jt strong arms on that will help a lot

Yeah, I plan in putting a Jt strongarm, a BAL, or maybe make equivalent. I have the Jt's on the front and they are great (only have two because I got from a friend who only used four from his pack).

I want the side to side support from the extra arms. So going towards the front at a 45 degrees works pretty well? So then you tighten them from the side of the camper? Now thinking more about this I'm assuming that's what most people have had to do with jack placemu like mine. Thanks you!

Anyone have an easily accessible picture? I think I'm going to run a angle from I-beam to i-beam so I don't have to cut the unclosed underbody just wondering how far towards the center people go to get the best results.

Thanks again

Ditto, but I fabricated my own strongarms...one for each of the rear scissor jacks and 2 each for the front legs. Check out my albums for full pics and details.

X2 on the stabilizers...I think the BALs are less expensive than the strongarms, and I have never has a problem with BAL products (been using them for over 15 years)

Thanks for the advise guys!!!

Wiscampsin, do you have any pictures of the rear stabilizer from the side? It looks like yours are the same as mine and I'd like to see where they are attached to the camper. One other off topic question, looking at your pictures I like your inside vent covers and would like to make something similar for the kids room to darken it for nap time. Is it just plastic covered in cloth or how do you keep them in place?

Thanks again!!!!

Sorry, don't have any pics of the rear stabilizer from the side. DW made the vent pillows from 2" foam rubber and grey fabric she had laying around. She's darn good with a sewing machine. She made them a bit larger than the hole so we just stuff them in and they stay just fine. Not only do they help darken the room but help when running the furnace or AC too. Ain't much R value to the thin plastic the vent lids are made from.

imo, you should remove the scissor jacks from the bumper frame supports and move them forward about 3-4 feet. You are putting a lot of stress at that point and can flex the frame out of shape.

Thanks for the tips with the vent pillows, I'll be introducing the idea to my mother in law very soon Thanks again and thanks for the pictures. Even though you don't have a picture from the side do you remember from memory where they connect to the camper? Thanks again!!!!

Thats a good idea, it would kind of solve my problem of the arms going forward instead of backwards. Two first concerns are as for the stress, that is where the the company installed them making me think it can't be too bad but I do see what your saying. My second concern is that few inches higher making the jacks more fully extended and weaker depending on the camp site

Thanks

I was at the camper this weekend but didn't look. I'll try to take some pics next weekend. Turbs posted some good pics of his on another thread http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...-28599-65.html bottom of page.

Thanks Turbs, this is the view outside my office this morning mid April, highs in the low 30's this week, yippie. I'm glad I took my motorcycle for a ride last week. As for the stabilizer go I'm looking where to connect them to the camper I'm assuming yours may be a little farther back since yours are electric but any ideas would be great!! Thanks

Well I got tired of the rocking in the rear of the trailer (master bedroom is in the back) so I ran a 3/8" alum angle from i-beam to i-beam a little in front of the scissor jacks to mount the it strong arms too. It works amazing much more stable eliminated most of my complaints

I just wanted to update you guys. I still haven't gotten around to my kingpin bike carrier probably next on the agenda, then the hitch for the golf cart
