Thumbs up Sealing up the water bay

Tip of the day. While inspecting the water bay on my 320RS I discovered a problem. The bay door when closed does not seal against the water bay. This creates a perfect space for critters (mice, ect) to gain entry to the inside of your rig, especially if you are in a wooded camping area. The space is 3/4" wide, plenty of room for "Mickey" to slide by.

This has happened to me twice in previous RV's. The entry is always the same. The rodent will crawl up a water or sewer hose, gain entry into the water bay, then right on in to everywhere else in your rig.

While I was working in that area already, I made a simple brace to stop the critters cold. Using a piece of 1X3, I cut it the height of the water bay. A few notches in each end, and secure to the front edge of the water bay with a few screws from the inside. Just make your cuts to match the lip of the bay door frame, and when mounting it, be sure to close the bay door as not to interfere with the normal latching position of the door.

Easy stuff, and it may save you some "furry" headaches!

Thanks Sarge! Great simple idea I can do tomorrow. my kind of mod. We found signs of a mouse in some drawers, but not to the pantry, so definitely needed. I wondered why they don't make it tighter to seal up, or add another gasket...
Thanks

I figure it was just one of those things that got over looked in the manufacturing process. But one that I noticed the first few weeks. After having a few mice on board in previous rigs, I know that sealing up the entry points is the ultimate.
