serial number question

I'm trying to fill out my second year warranty paperwork. How is the serial number different from the vin? The paperwork asks for both. The paperwork the dealership gave me only has a vin. where would I find the serial number? I have to get this mailed ASAP as today is day 9 and apparently I only have 10 days to get this mailed in. Thanks.

They are one and the same. Put the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) in both spaces.

That's what I was thinking but then I thought, why would they ask for it twice. Thought I was missing something. Thanks

I wondered about that as well, but figured it was applicable to motorhomes which would have two numbers I assume.
