I was so tempted to walk away from the new 386BH but I was assured that all the issues have been resolved and I wouldn't have any problems. Huge mistake and I have a decision to make.
When we picked up our new Palomino on 8/17 everything seemed OK. I should have done a more thorough inspection.
It started with the 6 point leveling system. Unless you are already on level ground, this is completely useless. The middle and rear legs won't even extend to the ground, much less lift one side or the other. If you pull the pin before they start to extend, the entire leg falls out onto the ground. Again, useless.
Next my wife tried to vacuum the floors and the attachments would not stay together. Eventually the hose broke apart from the handle. Couldn't get it back together. Luckily my dealer gave me one from the lot.
Next was the fridge noise. It is making a loud buzzing sound when the fan is on.
Then when I went to put the blinds down, half of them were uneven. One of them had the left string retainer screw 3" below the window and the right one was 6" above the window. This isn't just a simple mistake. The one at the door has a 3" gap at the bottom. The one at the dinette won't go down because of the cushions. Only way to fix that is to remove the cushions every time you want to lower the blinds.
Now we move on to the front AC. I am currently sitting at the dinette about 25 feet from the AC and the table is vibrating. A lot. I had to turn the TV up to full volume last night to hear it.
Several other problems that are fairly minor.
I went to my dealer and he was VERY accommodating. He told me we can go back on the deal and I can get my Cedar Creek back or they can fix everything. Again, bend over backwards. My wife and I discussed it and decided to hold on to it and just get everything fixed next month when we won't have time to camp. Not a huge inconvenience other than the 6 hours of travel required to do all of this.
So just now I was turning the TV in the living room and the cable fell apart at both ends.
SO I think we may be taking it back. There are just far too many things going wrong on a $75k camper for me to think it will all be OK.
