Slam baggage door locks on Sabre

Is anyone else, other than me, having trouble inserting the key in the slam baggage door locks? New one week old Sabre. Seems like it is difficult to get the little sliding cover of the lock open to insert the key. I have tried the Dupont teflon lock lubricant but it still seems too difficult to get the key in. Since there are two locks on each baggage door it takes me a lot of time just getting them unlocked.
Any suggestions?

If the key number on the lock is Ch571, you might just want to replace them. Everybody has the key, its a standard lock. Its easy and cheap to replace and added security

It is my understanding that the newer slam latch locks are different from the standard ch571. I was told that all Sabre slam latch locks are keyed alike but the slam latches on other brands will be different. There are some that use the same slam latch key but not as many with the same one. Don't know if this is true, maybe SabreSam can shed some light on it.

A shot of silicone spray inside the locks and then on the key will probably resolve your problem. I do this about twice a year. Although I don't have the slam latch locks, a lock is a lock.

Dear ret2006
Can you give me an update if you are still having problems?

I sprayed a little Dupont Teflon lock lube the two locks on one side and it still seems very difficult to push the little cover open and get the key in. I noticed when we were looking at the Sabre the dealer rep., also struggled a little getting the key in. I just thought I would use the teflon when I got it home and resolve the problem but without much success. They are still hard to get the key in.
Also, on the key ring with the Sabre entrance door key and the key for the slam baggage locks was also one of the ch571 keys but no one could tell me where it is used. They said it just came with the set of keys.
Any solution would be appreciated.

Me too. Took delivery on our 2012 34REQS-6 last Tuesday. Out of the six locks on the three slam-latch doors, four of them are difficult to work.

Dear Westyguy,
We sent Ret2006 a set of 001 keys. He says they seem to work a little better. He said lubricating has really helped.

I would be more than glad to send you some addtional 001 keys if you would like. Just send me your mailing address in a PM. The cut of the key might be a little ruff on your and the new ones might help.

SabreSam,

Got the new keys today. I used a Teflon based lubricant over the weekend and noticed an immediate improvement. I'll let you know how the new keys work out.

If the spray on lubes don't work get some graphite and put it on the key edge and work the lock a few times. I work in a maintenance shop and that's what we do with our locks.
