Yes you can sleep on bed with slide in the out position. They are made for that. If concerned about the extra weight there are jack supports you can install under the slide when in the out position.

Pretty sure OP is talking about the slide out in the "IN" position. With that said, it depends on the slide. My bed slide has rollers under it, and is as solid in, as it is out. More than likely, your's is built the same way.
If we are traveling and pull in a Rest Stop to Nap/Rest I dont put the Slides out,courtousy too others,but I still sleep/nap on the bed. The rest of the time the slide is out when bed is in use. Youroo!!
As long as it's not a flush floor design, you can be on the slide when it's IN.
The flush floor slides aren't supported when they're in and can be damaged by walking on them when they aren't supported.
Most bedroom slides that I've seen aren't flush floors and are fully supported when in. (Mine, for instance. We regularly climb on/across the bed with the slide in).

In storms like Hurricane Sandy we've slept on the bed with the slideout's in. No problem. We bring them in when winds are above 45-60mph.

On most of the slides you can sleep with it in just make sure it is supported. I've seen a few that floated and if you have that type you will need to support it or you could damage it. Was in AZ a few years ago during a very high wind and torrential rain storm and the prudent ones pulled the slides in. Some that didn't had severe damage and could not get the slides back in.
