Vacuum Problem

Help! our 2013 365RL vacuum will not shut off when you remove the hose. I had to remove the step and unplug it. Has anyone else had this problem?

have you tried plugging it back in.it turns off and on by a relay activated when insert the hose ,on most models when the unit is first plugged in the motor will run for about 2 seconds. i assume its under warranty and i would bet the dealer replaces the whole unit

Yes I tried that and disconnected the wires where the hose plug plugs in...........yes its still under warranty. I just thought there might be a simple fix.

Thanks for the reply

I found a troubleshooting guide on the Dirt Devil site on their RV cantral vac unit. Here's the link... Dirt DevilŪ RV Central Vacuum Troubleshooting

I know this might sound silly, but is the flap snapped shut all of the way down? Sometimes, ours is a little tight when shutting.

The same thing happened on my Columbus the first time that I used it, I had to pull the fuse. I came back out 2 days later and then it worked fine. I took it to the dealer and they could not find anything wrong with it and since then, it has never happened again. It will probably do it the first trip after warranty expires.

This happened to me today. Here's what I found. I lifted the cover to suck up my sweepings. When I closed it, the vacuum stayed running. Upon investigating, I found the round cap covering the hole has two tabs or ears located at the top. These tabs slide into a slot inside the outer square cover. It seems the tabs came out of the slots so when the cover was closed, it failed to make connection and didn't shut off the motor. I reinstalled the cap tabs into the slots and fixed it. I'll get pictures when I return home. We're camping so I'm kinda busy. Fishing, hot tub, napping, eating, etc.
