What does back up camera ready mean?

Just picked up our 2015 Palomini 142ck. It is supposed to be back up camera ready. What does this mean? Recommendations on camera brands?? Thanks.

Looking at a picture of your unit it appears to have the mounting case for the Furion camera. There should be a power wire for a camera in that case, probably powered whenever the running lights are on.

There are several threads here about the cameras. Look at them and do a lot of research because the majority of the options are Chinese junk. Personally, I like the Sharx system mainly because it's what I use for home security and have had good results. Plus, it displays on a iPhone, iPad or droid display.

Yep a Furion ready camera system. It works but it has such a small display monitor that is hard to see. Talk to them at the rally last year about the size and they said they were working on a bigger one. Have not seen it yet. Later RJD

Furrion FOS48TA-BL 100' Wireless Observation Back Up Camera w monitor

I received this one over Christmas to go on my Vengeance 19v. It is plug and play. I think it took longer to get the ladder out than it did to install. I finally used it this weekend and I loved it. Worked amazing and the picture is really clear. It is an observation camera so it can stay on the entire time you are driving and not just when you are backing up. Very curious. Is there a way to set the frequency on a wireless camera set up? It would seem that you would get interference when in the proximity of another system of the same brand.

Mine is only on when I go to park. No problem yet with interference. Later RJD

Is there a camera that will work with the stock backup camera and screen on a Chevy?

It appears you have a camera on your tailgate. We didn't have one on our '13 Silverado. We added a Boyo license plate camera to work in reverse. That has a 4-pin din waterproof connector going to the in-dash head unit. The great thing about the license plate camera is that it still views rearward with the tailgate down.

We then added a trailer camera that is made by Rear View Safety. That system gave us a camera, a one-piece 36' cable for the length of the trailer and ending at the hitch and a 5-pin din waterproof connector mounted at the hitch. A coiled (stretch) cable connects the trailer to the TV via another 5-pin din plug at the receiver hitch. A supplied cable for the TV was fed to the head unit. Because the Rear View Safety system is 5-pin (microphone in the camera), I asked Rear View Safety to supply a proprietary 5-pin to 4-pin conversion and then to the head unit. This camera is on all the time when connected so it is a rear view camera. However, the GPS screen is disabled with the camera on. So, we use a portable GPS if the need arises.

Both systems have worked very well for 3 years. Once you have had a camera on the back of a trailer, you are at a loss without one.

I need some advice..please.
So, the camper is wired for a back up camera. We purchased a Furrion Backup Camera System Model FRC12TA-BL. Got the ladder...scooped snow...took the cover off the rear housing and there is at least 6 feet of excess wire! We tried pushing the wire back into the camper and the wired only went in about 6" and then no more. There isn't room for the camera and all the wire! I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.
