Also, regarding the MiFi, is it definitely under a 2year contract or is pay as you go an option? Cause the MiFi, would be my first choice if pay as you go is an option.
Edit: just found this...
http://www.virginmobileusa.com/shop/...-pro/features/
Looks like exactly what I am looking for. Coverage appears ok from their map.

I've had good luck with Verizon's cellular modem at 3G, and with Verizon's JetPack at 4G. A couple years ago, I was in Colorado at 8600 feet, where my Verizon cell didn't get a signal at all, but I got at least SLOW SERVICE on Verizon cell modem.
I am a subscriber of Verizon's Home Phone Connect. I've always gotten a signal even when cell phone got nothing.

Take along movies and board games for rainy days. Enjoy the fact no one can call you! I wish I could get, "Dont call me, I'll call you service". LOL
When I first got out of college, living in a flat in the city, single, couldn't afford a phone. Loved it!!!

The fact that we are living in a digital world and use of such products is almost a neccessity, as paper maps have given way to GPS. My whole family has iPhones. My wife and I have unlimited data, but kids are on a 2-5gb plans. We use these for wifi and cellular, mostly email while away. I try not to work, unless an absolute emergency, and have been trying to at least turn the phone to Do Not Disturb in the afternoon. That way I still get calls to VM, texts, etc., but I don't hear phone ring. Have thought of setting up a media server and wireless intranet within the camper for movies and music, to stream to cell phones and media devices in bedrooms and outside.

So with Verizon, they show month to month, which is I assume pay as you go but buying 1 month at a time. You buy the device outright which I believe is $269. USD?
If this is the case, this sounds like it's exactly what I want.

But for the parks that do offer it' I'd like to pull in a better signal, and there are products whose purpose is that. A WiFi range extender.
The two I'm looking at are:
Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-N 600mW Smart Repeater and Range Extender (SR10000)
Engenius ENH200 Business Class Long Range Wireless N Outdoor Client Bridge/Access Point
I'd be interested if anyone has any experience with either.
Thanks.

Those should work just fine. I normally use a Cisco or Fortigate extenders but they are high dollar. They are available to me for free use from my company. Business class is best.
Most of the name brands work well just look for both radios (2.4 and 5 Ghz) and try to aim them well. As you move them around you will see better performance sometimes. Get them higher up and that helps as well.
GL and Have fun.

We bought a USB modem from Virgin Mobile ($69) and have had good service coast-to-coast. No contract, $20/mo for 5GB, $50/mo unlimited. Service stops at end of 30 days, then you reactivate for another 30 days when needed. We found the 5GB plan was more than enough for checking e-mail, news and light surfing.

Ok thanks, Sirsea. Virgin is much cheaper than Verizon and get way more data for way cheaper.
Verizon was $15 for 250mb, $60 for 3gb, and another one I can't remember. So instead of paying $60 for a month with Verizon, if I go to Virgin I get 2 more gb for $40 less. Huh! Gotta love competition in the U.S.

Treaves, Do check out Jafka Tech. I've looking for a WIFI extender to run my IPhone, IPad, IPod, and laptop wireless. They have a set up that has a 1/2 or 1 mile range. We usually stay at CGs that have WIFI which is free. Otherwise I use my IPhone with Verizon
.

Really? Because I just looked at their coverage map and it has lots of holes in it, especially in out-of-the-way places where someone might go camping.
From what I've read in these forums, Verizon has the best coverage in these places. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

You might be right, but ourselves being from Canada, we're probably going to hit the more touristy areas. Been several times to Myrtle Beach, planning to go to Florida around Port Charlotte to visit friends and other places in populated Florida. So will likely be perfect for us.
You might be right, may not serve the purpose for others.
