I can one-up that... much more important than any thing even alcohol is your SENSE OF HUMOR.

(Which, it sure seems like everyone around here has plenty of!)

So you will be able go check voltage levels, also to see if fuses and circuit breakers are open

In the 10 years I've owned a fifth wheel I've never needed a multi-meter and I don't have one for the fifth wheel.

There you go, plenty of batteries for every device you might carry. We carry a double A size recharger and sets of rechargeable batteries for the camera and flashlights.

And don't forget the phone chargers 12volt and 120volt.

I'm sorry but I have to ask, what happened with your trailer that you needed a multi-meter?

I'm using it all the time, from checking AA and 9vdc batteries to checking the house batteries charge. My meter also has a proximity tester that allows me to check if power is present at a switch, outlet or lite without making contact when I'm working on things. I guess some of us like tickling wires and knowing how thing work and some like to leave it to experts...

I've never needed a multi-meter
First weekend off the grid we had an issue with our fridge. We used a multi-meter to check fuses, confirm voltage, and generally troubleshoot. With information on this site, we determined that our use of power was too aggressive and the battery was low.

Bob,
My experience has been you never know you need something ... till you do; and then you will use it all the time for all kinds of things.

I’m an old tent camper and my philosophy was/is, pack light and take only what you really need. I still feel that way, although if you look in my basement storage area you might not believe I still follow that philosophy. I do have to admit that my needs seem to have expanded greatly since getting into RVing. I just wanted to be sure that I wasn’t missing something and really needed to add a multi-meter to my basic toolbox.
