Thanks for the heads up Byron. I have not tried brute force yet out of fear of permanently bending the aluminum. I may try using a Dremmel to slightly notch the screen at the bottom to fit around the crank.

I totally understand the fear of bending the aluminum. I had the same fear. I remembered having the same difficulty with the screens in my Travel Trailer, so I checked the screens during my PDI on my Columbus. I actually had complied a PDI checklist from 3 different PDI lists I got off of this forum and one of them said something about windows and make sure they open all the way which caused me to check all the screens as well.

Hope your able to get it all figured out.

Well I took the "force it into place" method that Byron suggested. Most of the screens were forced into the windows, causing a noticeable "arc" at the bottom. The question now is will they stay in after the trip home on the freeway.

On one of the side screens I used a Dremmel to slightly notch the screen where the crank sits. It helped a little, but to get a truly ideal fit, the screen would have to be notched along the entire length of the opening mechanism, which is about 3" long.

For now I will wait and see. The saga continues....

Unfortunately I am still fighting with the screens. Force seems to be the only way to seat the screens, and then you take the chance of warping one. One of my rear screens over the sofa is being replaced by FR due to the frame just warping and not being able to stay attached to the frame. Just a poor engineering design.

after inspecting my screens, the only suggestion I have is to basically disassemble the screen (remove corner pieces) and trim the heighth of the sides. Then reassemble. I would definitely tell / make the dealer do this.

Screen on my Palamino 32RCTS

I picked up my Palomino Sabre 32RCTS 2 weeks ago. The screen issue was on my list to check since I had read an earlier post about this issue. Everyone of my screens that have a turn knob have a half circle cut into the screen frame to accommodate the knob mechanism. Was the same on my Jayco travel trailer I traded in. I know the Sabre & Columbus are made in different factories, but give me a break. What good are screens that wont seal. As I said, this has been posted previously. Maybe Christopher Columbus can chime in.
