She didn't say anything about four months, my membership expires in 2016. She did check that. Will call again tomorrow to confirm.

New Choices with Highways Magazine!

In an effort to improve communication & give you more & better content:

  • Beginning in February 2014, we will provide you with four (4) FREE quarterly issues of either Trailer Life or MotorHome magazine
  • You can select which magazine you wish to receive for these four quarterly issues–Trailer Life or MotorHome–included FREE as part of your Good Sam Club membership
  • In the future, your Highways magazine (less all the advertising) will be inserted into each of your four FREE quarterly issues of Trailer Life or MotorHome magazine
  • These four FREE quarterly issues will be delivered at NO COST to you–now and in the future–as long as you are a Good Sam Club member
Read more in the letter from Marcus Lemonis, Chairman and CEO, Good Sam Enterprises.

I read this that regardless of subscription status we will receive at least 4 issues of whichever magazine you request. The HIGHWAYS magazine is being included w/o all the advertising since this was a major feedback issue from GS members. Plus this saves mailing costs for GS and reduces your recycling pile of magazines. Does not make it clear if the TL or MH magazines will be published the other months (I am not a current subscriber...is the magazine monthly?)

Trailer Life is a monthly magazine.
Wonder what GS means by quarterly issue?

Not trying to derail this thread but....
I decided to let my GS membership expire as we rarely stay at GS camp
grounds. We're more into state and national parks.
GS called me several times trying to get me to re-up. I finally told them
to TAKE ME OFF THEIR CALL LIST -please!!-
Next thing I get in the mail is a free 1 year extension on my membership.

I gave up on Highways magazinecwhen I realized the "articles" were written by the advertisers. Not a very good unbiased way to get info.

Seems like we are getting less for our membership dues, while GS is helping their bottom line.

It appears it has been heading this way since Camping World and GS merged. Also Affinty (publisher of Motor Home and Trailer Life) own Camping World and run Good Sam.

The Highways was a big part of the reason to have GS membership, along with the 10% discount at parks, the opportunity to obtain various insurance plans, and now the automatic membership into Camping Worls's President's Club.

Oh well, the world is ever changing.

So, it appears that the answer is no. Life members will no longer receive a magazine for life as a part of the original agreement. Guess I'll contact goodsam and see what options I have about cancelling and getting my $ back. :•\

For 4 months?

Well yes, there are 4 quarters in a year. To quote part of post #12 here:

I guess you lifetime members are still members, although with interest rates as low as they are, I doubt that initial investment is covering your costs anymore. Maybe they're leaving you out since they know they'll never get another dime from you. ;-)

I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. I did get a renewal notice from Trailer Life. So it appears that they will be still publishing monthly.

OK. I think I see it now thanks to several of your replies. As long as your are a good Sam member you'll get the "quarterly" issue of tl or mh. I think part of my misunderstanding was because I didn't realize that trailer life had become a quarterly mag.
* Moderator.. . Feel free to delete this post before I cause more confusion. Thanks all for helping clear me up.
