Smile Road Connect

Anyone used the "Road Connect" service at rest stops? This is something being tested in WA, OR, and TX. In WA, the State sponsors it. At practically all the rest stops, you can turn on your computer and use the wireless to get free road and weather conditions. If you want to go anywhere else on the internet, you have to set up an account and pay. I have used it, works great in WA!

That sounds like a great idea. Being ablt to connect to the weather service would be a real asset at times.

Yea, I've heard about that. I always had to depend on WiFi in RV parks, but never seems to be one around when you want or need it. I have just purchased the Verizon nationwide wireless broadband service. So far it works quite well, but haven't been to many places since I had it. Also got an outside antenna for it in case I get stuck in a fringe area. Have not used it as of yet.

I am planning on semi-retirement and believe it will come in handy to keep in touch with my clients and to send and recieve work related emails and attachments.

Now I suppose I need to update my old laptop (grin).

Happy camping,
