Another project I attempted.

This was a project that was estimated at $2,000 and ended up a little over double the estimate(typ. of my estimates). Top was 16ga 6065 T6 aluminum covered in vinyl. Added an air storage tank above the cab on the camper cab over corner to hold enough air to lift the top 2x's before re-charging. Top air cylinders are just in front of the side windows.

Built it in the summer of 1985, sold the truck & camper in 2000 and it is still being used by a guy in Carlisle, Arkansas. His boy bought the rig and the father put the camper on a trailer and tows it when he hunts. At least he was last fall when we talked to him. Says it still looks good and everything still works.
This is the truck in 2000 the day we sold it. Camper was in the garage to the right.

Just looked at your album OC. Damn you're good! That thing is really cool for a home build.

Thank you, over the 15 yrs we had it, every time we put it on the truck and took it out, someone would ask were we bought it. About 3 months to build. Did one mod to it and that was the air cylinders & tank to lift the top. That was a major improvement, just flip a valve and the top went up. Putting it down took longer to fold the canvas in and securing the latches 2 front, 2 rear.
