Anti-freeze... Does NOT taste so good!

We had to winterize after the Disney trip due to freezing temps. I thought I did a good job cleaning out the AF before shoving off for Williamsburg... Guess I did not do a good enough job flushing the lines out before leaving... BOY DOES ANTI-FREEZE TASTE TERRIBLE!!

It is not to bad but the after taste is there and a slight odor.. No mistaking the taste of the pink stuff and taste DOES NOT like to do away even after frequent mouth flushing!! LOL

Did you put AF in the FW tank?
If you did, big mistake and probably why it tastes bad.

No, I just hastily flushed the lines. We were leaving for a trip and wanted to save gray tank space... I did not want to break out the tote (lazy).

The front sink is cleared out but the rear (not flushed as well, my guess) still had the taste...

So moral of the story, do not cut corners when de-winterizing!

We have a blue tote. We typically use that for drinking water-coffee-brushing teeth etc for the first few days when de-winterizing. I've found that you can flush the lines all you want but it takes a few days for the slight foaminess and taste to go away.

FYI blue water totes come is a couple of sizes. 4/7 gal. Get one at the camping isle of your favorite big box or sporting goods store.

To alleviate the anti-freeze problem when getting ready for the 1st spring trip, I blow the lines of antifreeze when winterizing. I blow the water out of the lines 1st, pump in anti-freeze, and then blow that out. I figure I will have a few residual low places that the anti-freeze hides, but not enough to effect water quality.

This is why I blow out really good and put AF in traps. I just couldn't see how you could flush that well at home with out a drain at home. Since 2012, all is good so far.

I'm pretty sure the antifreeze tastes better than Jack Daniel's. That stuff is only good as emergency gifts and for washing parts.

I flush the whole thing at home.
Low point drains and outside shower hit the ground the rest go into black and gray tanks.

Lines and F/W tank get sanitized and flushed, if need be I will hook it up and drag it to the fair grounds and dump gray and black tanks.

After that I double check at the camp site to male sure I missed nothing.

I have thought about two huge bottles of Listerine mouthwash in the F/W tank for that minty fresh smell....
