Perhaps the author should consider that senior visitors to the national parks have paid on average 40 years of federal taxes to support America's Greatest Idea (National Parks and that in our lifetimes we have been responsible ( through our voting patterns) for a vast increase in the number and quality of National Parks. Also, we are the largest and most active voting block , demographically speaking: The only I will relinquish my Senior National Park Pass is if they pry it out of my cold dead hands! ( And that will be after we've voted out of office every one of the clueless scoundrels responsible for revoking this well-earned and righteous privilege.

Danger Will Robinson, Danger...
I just went back and re-read the article. Then I read the attached opinions. That is way better then any of the 1/2 vs 3/4 vs 1 ton, gas vs diesel, or brand on truck ever ranted about on this forum.
This baby is a powder keg.

I get in national parks free due to being a disabled veteran. If she wants to take that right from me she just might want to pack lunch and dinner

Disabled vet here too. Age 68 so could get the Sr Pass, but have not. We only visit 3 or 4 a year so do not take advantage of the programs.

Quoting the sixth paragraph it does say "...my husbands cousin...".
Excuse me - it's in the seventh paragraph.

She also had links to her other articles in the series, one being a "Mother-Daughter" trip. That's the part I noticed.

While i agree with the statement about quantity, I will disagree that the quality has improved. Its well documented that the National Parks are in dire need of additional funding. I am sure this is a very unpopular statement, but the author is right.
It would actually make more sense for the NPS to create a Family pass that any family with a kid under 18 gets in until the kids turns 18 for $10. I have worked for almost 30 years and expect to work another 20. I don't believe that entitles me to have free visits to the National Parks.
BTW, a standard 1 year pass is 80 for all parks. Lets face it, if we can't afford that a year, we really can't afford the gas to get to camp either
