Are You Counting Days Until Retirement?
Here's a spreadsheet to count your days until you retire. I made it at home and put it on my computer at work. Just enter dates in the yellow cells and it will calculate the number of working days until you retire. It spreads out the vacation, holidays, and sick days over the year, so it may not be exact.

I started counting down the days when I was at 15 years to go. My company had a countdown clock to "year 2000". I reset that to my retirement date and watched seconds tick by. Everyone that came in my office knew when I was leaving in 2003. Been retired a long time and don't know how I found time for a job.

No more counting I retired in 2014. My wife retired in 2012. We are enjoying life without work now.

If you never retire, you'll never know how much you miss (or don't miss) your job!
The best deal is to retire and go back as a contractor making much more than you did when you were a direct employee. When my former employer asked me to help out on a short (2 month) job, I named a price 50% more than I was making before I retired. They agreed. It's not as outlandish as it sounds. Their cost for me to work as a temporary employee did not include allowances for vacation, sick time, holidays, insurance, or retirement matching (which wasn't much).
They called again this past winter, but the 2 to 3 month job wasn't going to start until a few weeks before we were planning to leave for a 2 month trip. There were specific places where we wanted to be at specific times. I told them, "Sorry but traveling comes first. Call again later".

I'm going by my wife's schedule. She's 10 years older than me, and I don't want her to take off full timing without me

I don't know why it would be password protected. It is set up with some cells protected so a user won't inadvertently mess up the calculations, but no password is required to turn off that protection if you want to get into it. You should be able to enter all the needed information in the cells with yellow backgrounds.
If you like, send me a Private Message and I will email it directly to you.

My thoughts are that now that I am retired, when we are in the Sunseeker, it's like we every day is a vacation day. When I am at home, it's like every day is Saturday. There's always something that needs to be done.
For many years I had things that I wanted to do but couldn't find time to do. Now that I am retired, I don't get any more stuff done, I just have more time to not do it.

I’m at the cross road of retirement. I just turned 61 and am debating weather or not to take my SS at 62. At what age did most of you retire? Better yet, when you post, put your age of retirement.

Fortunately I was able to retire at 60, after 37 years, more than half of that as a firefighter.
