My wife and I are looking to move to West Virginia when we retire. It's a long way off. We plan to have our current house paid off in about 5 years and then start looking for land in WV.

The map looks accurate to me. Grew up in Nebraska, and liked it. Lived in Illinois, and hated it. Lived in both ends of Florida. I like the north end. The south end, I can take it or leave it. If we were to move, we'd probably move to Texas.
As far as south Florida goes, it sure had a lot of canerdians hanging around....just say'n...

It's odd hearing comments about South Florida. My job sends me to Miami for a week a couple of times a year and I've gotta say, I like going down there. I really dislike cities, but Miami is pretty cool. I'd want to test drive it a month or two before I would move there, but if I was transferred there it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Guess I fit in with the rest of my state would like out of NY, over taxed low pay and to many regulations. It's too bad beautiful area but all the above make it impossible to retire here.

Doesn't matter where you live the grass will always be greener on the other side and if you move it will eventually be greener somewhere else and so on it goes.

I'm giving God the glory for allowing us to live in the beautiful mountains of a Western North Carolina. Some around here would like to create the 51st state...West Carolina...conservative living with no taxes!

Myself, born and raised in Louisiana, left the first time after college...moved back once for a stint in our careers but it won't happen again

Primarily move around the SE over our years (LA/TN/MS/GA/FL...) and have a good sense of who and what we like & dislike in a region.

One of the best small town areas we have become fond of is located in NE GA/SW NC/SE TN for the people, recreation, seasons and cost of living
