When it comes to protecting yourself and your family, the onus falls on you and your family. Be aware of your surroundings and be aware of potential threats. The days of the cop on the beat and 99.999% of the population being law abiding good citizens has ended. There are far more "wolves" today than sheepdogs to protect the flock. As the said on MSNBC yesterday, when seconds count, the police are just minutes away.
2) Campgrounds used to be the safest place on earth. Campers were on vacation and the guy or gal next to you wanted what you wanted; peace and quiet - a pleasant experience. We watched each other's back; if it started raining, we put the neighbors chairs under their camper so they would not get wet.
Today, there are folks who have lost their homes living full time in their camper at campgrounds. Many (not all obviously!) feel disenfranchised and angry at the world for their situation.
This is a cautionary tale. We may not be as safe as we were in the past.

I agree with you 100% on all statments above...I remember when I was growing up and did the wrong thing, I got but good but today the law will not let you correct your own kids like it us to be, taking vidio games and cell phone and computer teaches them nothing all they do is get mad with there parents, with out going any deeper then this I believe this is how it has all started. You hear of kids killing there parents more and more every day and on top of all of this they earn nothing they get and they feel that everybody owes them something.
