Been on the grid too long
How young is the youngest any of you have taken your child camping? We have taken the summer off from camping as we waited for or second child and now that he is here I am ready to take a short/close trip. But I have my reservations about taking a newborn. We waited until 9mo for out first child's trip so just wondering your experiences and tips with newborns and camping?

Two of mine went camping at 6 weeks. First was tent camping near home on a rainy weekend. Second was a cross state trip (300 miles each way) to visit relatives in a 19' TT. At least we had hot water the second time.

Our first daughter was 3 or 4 months or there abouts. My best piece of advice is to plan to spend a lot of time at the campsite with some walks thrown in. Its pretty relaxed camping. I think it got more difficult when she was a toddler and we always worried what she was getting into.

the first trip was at 4 months. spent the time walking the camp ground and relaxing, a very slow paced weekend. we tried to get out at least one weekend a month after that. at about 16 months we took a 7500 + mile, 4 week cross country trip and had a great time. at 2 1/2 she loves going camping and we still try to get once a month. the biggest thing we found is to plan around your child's needs. this makes the trips less stressful for us.

First trip for my youngest was at 3 weeks and it was a 10 day camping trip. Also, by November last year, she had spent 35% of her life camping! They don't know the difference, sleep all the time anyways, and with the camper, it's not all that different than being at home.

Our Youngest was 6 weeks I think...its much more slow paced and relaxing than you would think. It was close to the house...He and the wife stayed i think 1 night and went home. It still counts! The Fresh Air does any age human good. Its now much more complicated as he is now 1 and crawling everywhere. The middle of the night bottles and what not are a challenge at the early age but really no different than at home. If he was walking it would be much easier. We are getting close and I hope before the season ends this will be the case.
Good luck!

Our youngest was 3 weeks old when we took him and his 3 older siblings camping. Our daughter was 4 months old camping in a pop-up.

It was years ago, we took our newborn son tent camping. He was about 6 weeks old. No real issues. More concerns once he was a toddler with what he could get into or wander off too. Have to be an eagle eyed parent then. Did you have something in particular that you were concerned about?

Our middle daughter was three months old when we first took her camping. Stayed a week. Other than having the trunk of our car full of pampers, the trip went just fine.

DD1 was 4 weeks old and DD2 was 3 or 4 weeks old on their first trips.
We just planned activities around each of their particular needs, seemed to have worked out well both times.

Our first daughter was 3 mo on her first trip. No issues and was actually really relaxing being as we never left but for a short walk to splash in the lake we were camping on!
