The empty weight of a shipping container is only 5,100 lbs (+/-). If it's empty their would be no problem. If it's loaded with 55,000 pounds of cargo then you run into some major issues. Your main loaded towing issue would be the tires and axles. Once they break, and you are blocking an intersection, your next issue would be the lack of a class A license.

It's a cool idea but it's limited on its audience. It would probably sell to medium and heavy hauling tow and transport companies. I doubt many people will have medium or heavy duty tow truck in their garage.

For moving empty containers it looks like a great idea with the wheels and tires shown. But load one up with 45000lbs of "stuff" and see how far it gets!

The one our oldest son is building is strictly for empty containers being moved by the towing company he works for until early Nov.

Keep in mind that only half the load is on the rear 4 tires and those 4 tires are rated to carry the load.

Absolutely. That's why I like it for empties.

But you know somebody will see this and think they can relocate with it.

Besides, the guys using that will be using the one our son is building are professionals in hauling big rigs, etc. They are one of the premiere towing companies in Anchorage.
