Bummed Out
Was hoping to take the family to Disney's Fort Wilderness in late October. Can't believe they are booked up!
Any other good places to camp near disney?

I can't help with anywhere near there, but I can't help but notice, that over the last few years, you have to book WAY in advance to go just about anywhere that's even remotely popular. Places we used to go in a few weeks notice, now we need 3-4 months. Guess so many people have gotten into the RV thing now, and not enough spots to stay. It'll only get worse I figure. With my work, I can't book stuff too far in advance.

There are a handful of campgrounds around the area. If you're a Thousand Trails member, the TT Orlando park is nice and the price is right.
Lake Louisa is just a bit further up 27 and has some full-hookup spots. I've heard good things about it.
I've heard good things about Tropical Palms RV Resort, too.

Hmmm, instead of wintering in FL, maybe Sneak and I need to think 'bout buying a bit of acreage down there and starting a small, full services RV park. "off the beaten path" of course, or we wouldn't want to stay there ourselves.
We'd actually considered that for TN,SC,NC areas.

I have debated the same thing. Actually had our own place (where the shop is)mapped out as it would make a really nice RV park. However, nobody would come due to location.

Thousand Trails is nice, also Tropical Palms not bad either but might be crowded as it's the next closest campground to Disney.

I am not surprised FW was booked up. The economy has been so strong the past couple of years. Everyone is vacationing and buying expensive toys. The industry just needs time to expand operations so that they can accommodate all the demand. Right now the supply is down so it makes it harder to find accommodations.
Maybe we need a recession to cool the jets a bit.

Thanks for the info. Guess I should have done it sooner... Hard for the wife to know when she can get off, but such is life!

I bet you could have booked a stay for the hot, humid summer?
