My number one item would be fuses. #2 toilet paper. I would avoid large items and big cost items. Basic sundry items and limited food items. I could add more, but I don't know how far your campground is from a grocery or Wally World. You can't fix stupid and it is not your job to provide for everything somebody forgets at home. It's how learn not to do that again!

Not all large and expensive items are left at home. Some items do wear out just when you need it the most. As for water hoses I carry 50' and also have 50' of electrical cords. Have been at CG where I needed longer lengths. Usually provincial or state parks. As for adapters you do not know what is needed till you get to the CG.

Ice cream bar you could easily triple that during the warm season.

I think the important thing to remember is that you're not in business to fill everyone's needs.. you're in it to turn over product. I would focus on "immediate need" and unique items. Not items that most folks would just wait to buy until they make a trip into town.

Unique items are one of my favorites. Locally made snacks, fresh produce, cheeses, sausage dogs, etc. Heck.. if you sold fresh daily local eggs for $.50 a pop... or had someone bringing in fresh homemade soup and bread for lunch for $5 a bowl.. I'm a buyer. Get a local business to do all the dirty work for just over their cost and let them display their business cards.

Helps draw in folks that would normally steer clear of "camp stores" as well.

Just my two cents.

Here's something a little off the wall......How about a 50-50 drawing. $5 an arms length of tickets for a chance to have your site fees refunded back to you for that weekend.

The main things I have ever bought from a camp store, are Ice cream bars, candy, snacks , doughnuts, and newspapers.

7th Camp outside of the Little Big Horn gives everyone free Ice cream bar with a check-in. After that it's
$1.00 but I think that pretty cool that they do that no
matter if your staying for a night or a week.

The other thing I think is great is they lead you to your campsite and help you park lining up your sewer
and making sure your power is ok before leaving you.

Chris Camp in Spear Fish SD also is doing the same thing, free Ice bar and helps you park making sure
everything is ok before they leave.

So maybe this is nothing to with what is in your camp store, but good PR within and outside your camp store
makes for campers to return year after year.
