can anybody name this plane??

Digging thru old photos and I found this. Man was I young, 22 years old. anybody know what model this is? probably the vietnam guys might of seen it around.. and the Desert Storm fellas

I have seen this type before,but Sorry I dont know. My guess is it is/was an FAC type and it isnt an Osprey.

That sounds familar. The "O' being observation in Army talk. Now that I think about it, I believe that is an Army plane.

mostly used for battle field surveillance, photography, Electronic interception/intelligence, and just having fun avoiding the clouds.. fully aerobatic..

When I looked at the OPs original photo I noticed the external pod under the starboard side of the fuselage so I think it is the D variant of the OV-1

good job hutch... we also operated the RV version that antenna is a SLAR the RV`s had ELINT pods on the wings

You're correct! It sits over at the AF Armament Museum next to Eglin AFB! One hell of an aircraft. I was stationed in Guam with them.

I watched them fly into USAF bases in the late 80's while policing the demonstrations by 'the great unwashed' protesting about the nukes being brought in. Happy days.....not. Cold, wet and dozens of unwashed, tree huggers who didn't want to live within the system but wanted the benefit handouts provided by the system.
