Canoe on camping trip

Does anyone else take a kayak or canoe on their camping trips with the TT? I just recently sold my aluminum boat after buying my TT. I bought a new canoe and will be mounting it on the roof of the tow vehicle (cargo van). I installed some generic roof racks along with padding.

The van is tall enough where I have to carry a small ladder to help secure the canoe on the racks! It would have helped if I were just about three feet taller.

I open doors, and stand on the sills to tie down my canoe. The rear tires and tailgate also provide a platform.

Mtnguy, I had a rack just like that on my Tacoma when I had a kayak. I've since bought three boats and now have downsized to one boat and one canoe. I now use a full size Chevy van for a tow vehicle, so I have to use a ladder to get to the racks on the roof.

That's a nice setup for the bikes. I may have to think of something for the van to carry bikes, or maybe just throw them in the trailer while towing.

Yes.
I use part of a ladder rack and part of a "Half Pack" on this truck.

I'll be transferring the hardware to the new ride.

Yeah, the van would be taller and harder to get to. Even with my truck, it is a stretch get my canoe tied down, and I am 6'3". The ladder seems to be the most practical solution.
