car enthusiasts

Any car nuts out there? Every summer, I do a "mystery cruise" for the car club I'm in, a drive of approximately 30 miles through Ohio's Amish country. You won't know the route until you get the instructions at the start. We always end at a club member's house for a cook-out. This is a nice way to enjoy your classic/antique/muscle car in a relaxed social setting. It is family friendly- no alcoholic beverages. This year's date is August 17th, starting in Dover, Ohio. Get with me more info, we always like to see new faces.

Road rally is always fun, though seems to be a bit of a dying past time. I know its been a few years since I did the last road rally (you get a partial map and some clues to figure out the route with checkpoints either you get a token from an awaiting member or take a picture of the answer to the clue.

I spend more of my time with club racing now days, but I enjoy it just as much.

Once a car enthusiast, always a car enthusiast. Over the years, I've done rallyes, performance rallyes, autocrossing, SCCA hill climbs, stock car racing. A crippling accident between my Harley and a truck running a stop sign put all that to an end. That's when my wife suggested a MH would work much better than a tent for us. She was right of course. I still have a 1986 Camaro Z28, and my wife has a BMW Z4.

Unfortunately I don't have a nice car right now, I lost my Charger in my divorce then taking on the payments for two stepkids has taken it's toll. Managed to hang on to my bike though.

But yes, certified gearhead checking in!

Love those windy roads from Gahanna to Millersburg. My old Miata used to chew'em up and even though the Vette had way more power, I'm sure it could not keep up with the Miata turbo.

Good to hear you got to keep a really nice bike. I know how that goes.

Managed to save an old barn find last year. Here is a before and after:

Thanks. Yup, same bike 1979 KZ650. Took about 160 hours to get it done. The only thing I didn't do was powder coat the frame. I didn't have a large enough oven for that. I have three others that will eventually get done.
