I was my town's Rubik's Cube champion, too... just sayin' : )

I also was part of the 'manual' to 'electric' transit for Typewriting class in high school...
went from 'hen pecking' on a hard manual to 'speeding along' on an IBM Selectric (!)

we were high class!

This appears to be a "new" thread from the one we originally posted in. Guess the administration has pulled it out of the original thread (Which was What have you done to your RV, I think). They usually say when they've done it, but .....

Actually, it was the "Things you see in an RV park" which is a haven for off-topic posts as it is. We are just trying to keep that thread on track as much as we can.

When a seperate converstaion that spans 40+ posts pops up in the middle of the thread, it needs to be seperated out so everyone can continue with the secondary topic without disrupting the flow or the original intent of the thread.

Well in that case, all of my college papers were done on a manual typewriter-- because there were no other options!

I understand. But usually there's a disclaimer up front about them being moved from somewhere else.

Also, I didn't get my usual email that this thread had had a new post, UNTIL after I added my post #42 above; I had to go hunting for it. It DID show up in my list of subscribed threads as an unread thread but with a title I didn't recognize, which is how I found it.

And don't forget, those typewriters in high school didn't have any markings on the keys. At least the ones I used. Idea was to teach "touch" typing.

That class paid off in later years. I was one of the few guys in my company outside the IT department that didn't need to find an admin assistant to type a report or letter if I needed it done quick.

After the old upright Underwood typewriters, computer keyboards were a piece of cake.

Typing: The one thing I learned in HS that I can actually say I USED!

Now it's called "Keyboarding."

Oh, there were other things I learned in high school I found "useful" but the most fun things cant ne discussed here. 😊😊

We just took a group of fairly new RVers to Roberts Lake in the Gila National Forest (NM). No cell or wifi service. After the initial shock of most their apps not working, no internet, and no texting, they discovered life w/o smart phones was much fuller and the days longer and filled with activity!!!! Of course they were all sore after the first beginners hike. By the end of the week they didn't even miss their phones! One fella said he had forgotten what his wife's face looked like when not buried in the phone. Now they are planning the next trip to the 'cell dead zone'.
