Dang it was cold yesterday

Yep -35.5c (-31.9f) without the windchill and around -45 with the windchill. Only went outside to water the horses and check on our barn cats. Geeze even the dogs were trying to keep their paws off the ground when they were having a pee. Going up to -8 by saturday thank god. -18 today so I will be able to finish clearing the yard as I broke a shear bolt in my 3pt hitch blower on christmas eve and was too lazy to replace it after being out there for over 2 hours.

Yep that's COLD! Sounds like it's time for a road trip south!!

I gotta tell ya...It is beautiful country up there in the great white north but I couldn't handle the winters. I thought I had it bad when I lived in the Sierras in central Cali...would get down near 0 but it was the snow levels that were hard to deal with there. 4' overnight a few times a year with 12' drifts makes for a fun morning.

I won't complain about the cold any more after seeing what you have up there. Stay warm and be careful outside in those temperatures.

Now I know why my father went to south Florida every year on November 1st and didn't go north until May 1st. Stay warm!

Tell me about your tractor and blower. I've got a 1969 JD 1020 (38hp) and a 5.5 foot Meteor (Made in Canada) snowblower.

I have a 2008 John Deere 2320 CUT 24 hp 4wd with quick attach loader and 53" bucket, 5 ft Frontier box blade, 5 ft Frontier soil pulverizer, 48" Deere tiller, Frontier pallet forks, 50" Allied SNowblower, Speeco quick hitch with hydraulic top link, Land pride 6ft rear blade, 62" belly mower, 55 gallon 3pt sprayer, Frontier Middlebuster 3pt bale spear. I think that about covers it. While I wish I had a tractor like yours for carrying my 1200lb bales this little Deere is pretty much a swiss army knife and can do just about everything. For everything else I have Stihl OPE.

That's cold! I'm like Mntguy its been in teens and 20s for lows here this week (coldest air for 2012 here) and I hate it. I guess I will just have to stay south, 100° sounds better to me than anything below 32°f !

That's way too cold! I can't deal with 40's much less the temps mentioned above. High 70's today and expecting low80's tomorrow down here. Currently I'm sitting on my back patio wearing shorts, drinking a cold one, frying a turkey and watching the Duke game. No snow in sight!

I share your pain
I'm as bad as any northerner when it comes to one-upping folks about the weather (you call this a decent June snowfall...why back home...) but the fact is, once you start getting down into the minus thirties (in any language) it just sucks.
I love my show shoeing and my caribou hunting, but I love it a lot more when the weather stays above minus 20.

Warmer days ahead!

That is COLD! Being from Wisconsin, I can pretty much handle whatever mother nature throws at me, but once you get below zero, it doesn't much matter what the thermometer says. Skin will freeze, fingers and toes will go numb, etc. Had our first snow fall of the season last week...12 inches at our house and 18 miles away, on the shores of Lake Michigan, (where I work) it was raining! Snowing again today; supposed to get 5 inches. This is really hard to take after the mild winter we had last year. Our hopes of a January winter camping trip are waning. Its been really tough to see our TT covered in snow and ice. I may go into it this weekend just to check things out and make sure everything is still okay. And I pretty much have to go into it at least once a month or I tend to get withdrawals....

Warmer weather is on it's way, Sasks! Here in Calgary it's warmed up 20 degrees since yesterday's low.

When it gets down to -30s or below, I try to think of the positives, like how the cold keeps the bugs up here from outgrowing our pets, and keeps the mountain pine beetle from eating their way across the entire country!

So when I headed out the door this morning for work, it was minus 37C (minus 34 for you folks south of the medicine line) with the windchill bringing it down to -wait for it- minus 51 (minus 60 Fahrenheit).

According to the Weather Network, all next week is nothing but windchills in the high thirties/low forties ...(or is that low thirties and high forties...?) it's bloody cold anyways.

Anyone down in Arizona or New Mexico want to adopt a slightly used Canuck ?

Man y'all up north are a hearty bunch!
I am hating my teens and 20°s at night. I can handle the 100°+ a lot more than this cold- and I'm not even over the hill yet. Might have to move even further south when I get older!

Yukon Don! You have us all beat for bragging rights!!

Here in MN, we will be having daily highs that are below zero F for a few days.
