Destroying Picnic Tables!

The Only Picnic tables we have seen that are "Almost Indestructible" are made of Concrete! They have some tables that are made from expanded steel and coated with plastic but people place "Grills and Hot skillets" on them also, which Melts into the Plastic! Please Help Save our "Picnic Tables"! Youroo!!

Wooden topped tables are the most easily damaged but they're relatively easy to repair. The plastic coated tables are about as easily damaged and they can be repaired, but it's a bit more work.

Most of the places around here have gone to the galvanized steel frames with aluminum 'boards' for seats and tops. They seem to hold up pretty well and they don't melt if someone places a stove or grill on them.

And I agree, PLEASE help save our tables.
My motto is: "Leave it better than you found it."

Yep even the ones made out of recycled material will warp, bend, melt when people put grills on them!

and these are the same people that wonder "why we can't have nice stuff?" This. This is why, right here!!

That's why I use the SideKick RVQ and leave it on the side of the camper. Finding a lot of picnic tables like youroo posted. Some folks just have no respect for other people's property.

Table made for "Wheelchair Access"! They only needed to add additional length to Top Boards! This was in "Big Falls, MN. Youroo!! PS you can see the Burn Marks on the "Wheelchair End" campers thought the table extension was for "Grills"!

I prefer the lightweight ones that are easy to move, like the ones in Goshen at the fairgrounds.

Ditto, I'm all about leaving the campsite better than I found it. Just my nature and common courtesy for the next person.

I agree though with olsonm. Although we use a table top grill, I have never seen any tables burnt like in these pictures at the places we have camped. Common sense and care should prevail when using others resources...but then again common sense / courtesy is becoming more obsolete, in general.

Still, we leave our camp site in better than found condition and that's all that matters. Just keeping it "old school" here.

Not only do I try to leave my campsite cleaner, but many times I leave stuff for the next camper (something I saw that another camper did that inspired me).

Like what? Around here, the campground volunteers will throw it away or just take it. Sometimes firewood will be left alone, but not often.

So True.... and at our favorite Florida SP... they collect and resell the firewood you left for the next camper.. even when half burned

I use an electric grill. Doesn't get hot on bottom. You can run your hand under it. But I've seen several burnt tables. Shame.

My 1974 Coleman stove does not burn the table at all. We have a folding cook table with half wire mesh half plastic we use at sites that don't have tables.

See burnt picnic tables at campgrounds all the time, don't know if people just don't care or if they do not know any better. It is a shame. Even seen, not to put grills on the tables in campground rules but still see many doing it.

Come on, there is no excuse for this!! A five year old could tell you this would happen! It's just some people don't care or don't think!
