Dually Diesel...would you buy...just because ??

Just a thought to ponder. Got a text from friend last night to see if I wanted to see his new toy. (think he owns every power tool ever made) So I go over and right away I see the NEW 2019 Ram Laramie 3500 Dually in his driveway. Beautiful Crew Cab...Some awesome kinda red color. So I'm looking and say "looks like someone is going to buy a BIG 5ver." (they don't camp) He says.."No." Then it's..."getting some ATV's or such and a enclosed trailer" ?? again..."No" "I bought it cause I liked it." Ok. Everyone has a reason for a purchase.

Sounds like one of my BILs. More $$$ than sense.
Every time I see him, he seems to have a fancy new vehicle. No rhyme or reason why he buys them. He just wanted them. Never keeps them long. Some are brand new, some are restored classics, some are highly modified.
My theory is, when it's time to change the oil, he sells it instead.
I would love to have enough $$$ to throw at expensive vehicles on a whim. I'm jealous......

There have been numerous vehicles I've bought "just because" but they spoke to me in one way or another. A dually diesel isn't one of them. I love diesel trucks, but there are much more fun and comfortable vehicles out there to have "just because", if/when I buy a dually it will be because it'll be hauling something...and that something could be bought "just because."

if they have enough cash to throw around good for them. I myself would lever by a dually. hard enough finding a place to park with my 2500.

Couldn't agree more. I'd have to walk 15 miles to work, a dually wouldn't fit through the parking garage doors.

I still have our '14 RAM dually CC LB but no longer need it. But, DW loves to drive it. So it's still our 2nd vehicle.

Unless I needed the extra capacity for a big 5er, I would prefer a single rear wheel 3500 myself. All the other options are available in both SRW and DRW setups. I would probably go that route if I was considering a 2500 also. For some reason around here the 2500's are selling for more than the 3500 SRW in the same level trim package (both diesels). Makes no sense to me.

For RVs sake...I won’t buy another 2500... They are perfect for everything, but a 5th wheel trailer.... found that out the hard way. My original intention was to buy about a 25 ft TT, not a 12k 5er.

Sold my DRW CC LWD PSD a few years back. It was just sitting and rotting away. For my daily driver I have a Hond Accord or a Ford Fusion Hybrid. We still keep an F150 around for hauling stuff to and fro.

Hated to get rid of the beast, but couldn't justify the cost of having it sit. It was a bit unwieldy to use as a daily driver and expensive to operate. Other than that, loved it.

To each their own. I guess if your buddy can afford it, have at it. Not my means and method.

For sure on that. My F250 is big and strong enough for anything I need now or tomorrow. Had a dealer rep tell me they pulled 15000-1800 pound rigs over the Rockies with a 2500 or 3500 Series, and that my F250 was as strong if not stronger. Moral of his story as stated by him: Men buy dualies to stoke their egos!!! DW could not agree more LOL !!

Don't know if I would do a dually, but I would sure do a 3/4 ton again. Even a 1 ton, non-dually. I like 'em.

Hi Neighbor, Bill from Splendora. We got a 2018 Cardinal 3825 FL last summer so we also needed an F350 to pull it.
