As long as the there is subsidized ethanol production, the ethanol will continue. Stop the subsidizing of ethanol and it goes away. That's why farmers in Arkansas are now raising corn instead of rice. They are now getting close to300 bu/a on irrigated ground previously used for rice/soybeans.

If no one buys it then it'll no longer be subsidized.

Not worth the hassle trying to find gas stations on interstates. Besides, it's all political and regardless of demand the subsidies will remain.

Looks like I would only have to go 80 miles (160 round trip) from my house to get some.

Something I noticed while at the states around Goshen this fall. The states that grow all the corn are the ones easiest to find pure gas.

Contrary to FT Turbs, I 95 and most interstates are not littered with non-ethanol stations and I've not had a problem with the fuel since 1978, so why bother?

I use what ever the pump has in it. All gas tanks here are fibreglass underground now. Turns is right, the ethonal does cause rust and the few steel tanks had extra filters for rust on the pumps still they could replace with fibreglass.
Interesting looking at the pure gas site, same brand stations are filled with the same gas as non brand but only one station is listed. I often wait till late Tuesday and get premium at regular price when the local station runs out of regular.

Today Diesel is the same price as reg gas. Has been for a year, i don't understand why diesel is so pricy south of the 49th..

Good links Turbs... I need E Free for my scoots and I've seen what E10 can do to outboards so I'm not a fan. I think today's systems are engineered to work fine in vehicle engines/tanks with E10 but the older stuff can get pretty trashed. Just thankful they didn't make E15!!
Will use those links on the road...gracias!

It would be nice to find ethanol free 87 octane somewhere local but all there is 91-92 octane ethanol free at 80 cents plus around here.
My riding mower gas cap has 10% ethanol max on it. Why is that?

Must be pretty new. Here 87 octane no alcohol is about $.25 per gallon higher. It's what I run in everything gas/small.

They do make and sell E15 in KS and IA for sure. So beware when filling up in those states, as well as others, I base this on a trip a year ago through both states and I can only assume there are many more.

If your vehicle can use E85, you should be ok, but if designed for E10, you might have problems.

Living in Moab, I used E10 on all my vehicles for six years, and many people I know used it in ATVs/UTVs with NO problems. That is the only fuel they sell in Moab (other than diesel).

And I just replaced my fuel pump on my 2008 H3 and the fuel tank looked nice and clean as well as the fuel inside.

When I worked in the trade we use to see that a lot and that was way before E10, so it is not something new that you have just discovered, today the tank is plastic the lines are plastic the injector lines are high pressure line, try changing the filter more than once every ten years

95 fuel system is not designed to run a high ethanol content fuel, it will eat what ever rubber it comes in contact with, add a little excess water and you get what you got, not good at all.

From AA1CAR.com article... that sounds pretty correct. Should be reasonably close on small stuff as far as hoses

All vehicles made in the U.S. since 1995 are required to have alcohol-resistant fuel systems, so the risk of damaging the rubber or plastic components in your fuel system with a single tank of E85 is minimal. Vehicles built since 2001 are even more resistant to alcohol so for those applications there is probably little or no danger of damaging anything.

Doesn't work in my case....but I don't let fuel stand in the tanks that long. I pretty much burn it in a week or two. However, there were two times in MI where my personal vehicle remained home for a month long periods during the hot humid summer and never appeared to have a problem.

Prior to moving to Moab, I lived in MI for three years, and prior to that TN for seven years, and in those states, I used 10% ethanol in most cases and never experienced any problems with any of my vehicles from Pontiacs to Corvettes, and never had any problems with my government vehicles either; at least in regard to fuel.

MI and TN with summer temps in the 90s and humidity extremely high (summer and winter) vs. southern UT where summer temps hit 105, but there is no humidity unless it is raining.

(Just for clarification: TN from 1998 to 2005, MI from 2005-2008, UT from 2008-2014. I guess I could also throw in GA and NY but not sure if there was that much ethanol around then.)

Also add that on some of the GM forums, many advocate on E85 vehicles to run a tank of E85 through the system approx. every 10th fill up to clean the injectors. Not sure if this is accurate, not sure if it works, since my only E85 vehicle is 2013 and I have not lived anywhere E85 pumps are found.
