I just checked, its been 5500 miles on this filter and last march when I changed the filter( I always write it on the filters and under the hood) and my dic still says 100%.

Heck turbs you may have had the original filter on it.

Ps. I NEVER go off of dic %s for recomended service, and if I saw the service records for a truck that I was going to buy and it had consistently had services over say 7k for oil and 15k for fuel, I would steer away from it. Fuel filters are cheap compared to injectors- and I get them @ 10% over cost, much cheaper than just about anybody.

The filter was an a/c delco and the date code on it was may of 2012.

fuel filters changed out twice a year. late fall and early spring. i am sure there is some life left in them, but to change fuel filters on the side of the road is no fun.

Hmmmm, any idea how many miles?
Then again it could be the fuel. Most of my fuel is purchased from a local station that is privatly owned and he changes his pump filters very frequently- never heard of anybody having any probs. with his fuel.

- side note I have taken a corner once when my "range" was 30miles and I ran out of diesel- just an fyi- I now fill up when at 50miles

not sure how many miles ....
I buy fuel from the same station every 5 days .

And fyi my when my fuel gauge is at "half" I have only used 9 gallons.
when my gauge read empty and the light come on I have only used 17 gallons
I can literally drive 3 days with my fuel light on and when I fill up I normally put in about 22 gallons .

Yeah since I replaced my fuel module last year, when I fill up at 50 miles- it usually takes about 17-18 gal.- I'm just gun shy now!

ITS under warranty and I have to wait till my oil dic is at 25% before they'll do it for free!
I also have an exhaust leak and a low rumble when 4x4 is turned on .

Ever since I bought my truck last year, I've never been able to put more than 29-30 gallons in my 36 gallon tank. I've run 50 miles with the light on and pushing E off the guage, and still can only get 30 in.

That's not to say, it doesn't make me nervous. I just know there HAS to be 6 gallons of fuel somewhere.

I know, that's what I keep thinking every time I push the limits. I'm thinking that why should the guage be off 1/6 of the total tank capacity?

And if you run out of diesel once- you don't want to do it again! And the second time (fuel module broke, and gauge was stuck at 3/4 tank) really sux!

I believe that with much less than 6 gal left, there is a greater chance of sucking air when sloshed. And of course diesels are much different than gas. You suck even a little bit of air and it is problamatic- ask dwaynerz

The Duramax does have a fuel heater, it is the wire in top of the filter housing, in model year to 07 it also has a fuel cooler in front of the left tire.
