For the over 60 Crowd

Now these WERE the good old times!

Our 2nd car was just like the red & white 56 Chev 4 dr hardtop shown.

Didn't see any shiny pennies in those loafers or spinners on the steering wheels

Just curious. When did the 'Good Old times' end?

Talking about the music, IMO, late 60's. As for cars, late 70's. As for the rest, around 1980.

I like all music, I like the 2014 Cars ( can never beat a new car), so IMO, let the good times roll.

I should have said the day I got married " the first time".

When they went to FWD and more or less outlawed over 350cid v8's in cars, they destroyed the REAL cars. IMO.

My favorite car was my brand new 1970 Lemans Super Sport. I wanted a GTO but Dad wouldn't cosign for it. I thought maybe he didn't know what a Olds 442 was so I thought I'd trick him into cosigning for that. Huh! He knew a lot more about cars than what I gave him credit for. That's why I ended up with the Super Sport instead. I really did love that car.

I recall Super Sports as only a Chevy option. Didn't know Pontiac had them also.

Well...you named this thread for the over 60 crowd and there was a good reason why! The Lemans was simply Sport and not Super Sport. It was still a great car. 350 c.i. and I could top it out at 125 mph. I'm scared to drive over 80 now.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one with CRS. They were all good cars until the phony gas crunch in 73 and ...

I liked my old 54 Chev six banger with a split manifold and dual exhausts, not headers. I'd like to have that one back to restore

My our first car after getting married was a 52 Chev 2dr sedan with a dual outlet manifold and dual exhausts and stock mufflers with a pipe that run from the inlet to the outlet (actually dual straight pipes). Could cap one outlet and run just a single exhaust. Lowered 2", fender skirts, flipper hubcaps, etc.

I thought about this one and I can really nail it down.

When gas went over a dollar a gallon, I knew we had entered a "Brave New World."

I believe that was in '73.

I think that's about right. That's when I bought my first motor cycle. Small as it was (Honda 175 road bike) it got me back and forth to work without worrying about gas lines and all the other crap going on. Was getting around 60 MPG.

We laid on the ground in Moline in Jan and put a 20 gal gas tank under a Class B mh so we would be able to have extra gas going to Daytona to the race. Like to froze our a----- off. Put the switch over valve in the back and when she sputtered, someone had to run back and switch tanks.
