I'm at work!!
Half hour to go!
Grade 10's are talking about trans gender bathrooms, not electron theory.
I took a " sick day" tomorrow and am headed to the lake for the weekend!
Hurry up!

Remember, a cold, wet day camping is better than a warm, dry day at home or at work!

Glad you feel that way.
40 mm of rain in the forecast.
Same as last weekend when we were here!
A tad more challenging with 2 under 5...
but doable!!

Non-metric countries that put a man on the moon and won a world war: 1

Metric using countries that have put a man on the moon and won a world war: 0

...and they think we need to catch up.

Yes we did BUT all calculations for space flight are done in metric and if I remember my long range gun sizes they are in also in metric.

But in Kenny's defense.... When WE needed an instrument to write things when we did go to space... The US spent millions of dollars on testing and research to develop the PERFECT pen to write in space reliably... The Russians... They used a pencil.

Lol. My dad loved space and NASA and all that(born in 1940) and he had a space pen...way back. Thanks a lot sorry thugs who looted his house and stole everything that was stealable including jewelry boxes with coins and stuff that cannot be replaced. Hope you got your daily high. Sorry.

Please don't insinuate that the Russian engineers were more clever than NASAs. They looked hard and long at every aspect of every piece of equipment that went into the moonshots, and found there is a VERY good reason for using a pen.

Biggest is the graphite in the pencil 'lead' is conductive, and a piece that broken off could have short circuited an electrical component or switch. The other thing is the shavings and particles floating around made when sharpening a pencil in zero-g would have been a serious respiratory problem, unless you came up with some sort of containment system that would have cost $$$ and more importantly, weight. (And it cost huge amount of money to shoot even an ounce into orbit, much less to the moon).

Simpler is usually better, but not automatically.

Tim

No thanks. I'm too old to change. I respect your desire to be metric. I don't feel that metric is better.

That is part of our on-going education integration program. The youngsters get to learn about the price by volume lesson. Those of us that have made prior purchases can look at the bottle and call foul on the price.

When us old folks croak off. Nobody here will have to know the difference between a short ton and a long ton.

This is how we got back at the brits.
