Indeed, it's gonna be a rough night for the selfless folks on the front lines up there. Dry as a tinderbox throughout the Province. Desperately need some rain!

I see there are a number of TT's being pulled out. Hope they got their FW tanks filled before they left.

Thoughts with those affected.

We had a fire less than 1/2 mile from our house last week, complete with helicopters, water bombers and ground crews. It's crazy how dry it is, very little rain after a low snow year. Going to get worse before it gets better.

Help coming to fight 'nasty, ugly fire' in Fort McMurray - Edmonton - CBC News

But hey, the federal government is "watching the situation". Thanks a bunch.

Reports from friends in the Fort Mac area indicate close to 1000 homes burned. To put this in perspective the official all evacuate order was give at 6:30 yesterday evening.

There was a lady on CBC last that lost her trailer, truck everything she reported due to fire a at a campground.

I wonder of Crazy Joe and Buffalo Air are on site with their water bombers from Yellowknife.

Even worst than yesterday according to the news today. Main road was blocked by fire making it hard for folks to leave. Later RJD

Reports now that 88,000 people evacuated since yesterday at 6 pm, no one injured. A trailer park is leveled in Fort Mac. Some video showing total subdivisions wiped out. Nothing left. Estimated 1900 homes burnt since yesterday evening.
Sickening disaster. Largest one in my memory in Canada.

Update...

90,000 evacuated many home, whole subdivisions gone. Like a war zone.Over 9 billion estimated Insurable loss and counting.

This is worst disaster ever in Canada.

People that have tents and trailers are camping now were they can find a place.

Some of the footage is scary driving thru walls of fire to escape.

It is pretty surreal for sure. Hopefully the weather turns and we get a break soon.

I checked the member database and found that we have fifteen FROG families registered from Fort McMurray. Prayers for them and the entire community in this tragedy.

Could be months to extinguish. We, like most communities in Alberta, have displaced evacuees staying in our town. Hard to imagine what they have been through, and the road is far from over.

In the southern part of North Dakota you can see the haze at times.

It's not getting better they are shutting down and evacuating some oil producers today like Suncor and Syncrude. Evacuating 8000 employees today. A work camp was also lost to the fire.
