Free pick up

Well. I was recently blessed with a gift of a 1995 z71 4wd extended cab pickup. Father in law sold farm and moved to town, gave me the truck. Ain't God good?
After a week or so of scrubbing seats and carpets, and some frebreeze, wife says she'll ride in it now. A/C has coolant leak somewhere. Charged it with some UV dye. Can't find leak. Assume now its under dash.
Frustrating part is, it has a cassette player. Where do you get cassettes nowadays? Lol. Anyway, its gonna be a great hunting truck. Save wear and tear on my TV. Just wanted to share.

Yeah, I had tons of them too at one time. Held on for years but finally donated to goodwill. Hey. Maybe that's a place to look too.

How about replace radio. New ones are not real expensive.

Goodwill will not take them or VCR players or tapes, too old tech I guess.

I got one of those cassette tape player converter deals that allows you to hook up anything else with a headset jack. I'll send it for free. I no longer need it.

buy one of those cassette converters and connect it to your music player - I did it in my older car until I had a connector put in for my ipod.

Some good ideas here. Don't really care to put much money into this truck. I know I can get a cd player for just a few bucks so I'll probably do that.
Gonna try to find the A/C leak next week. Got some uv glasses and a UV light. Hopefully can find some stain under the dash.
FORD IDAHO, our Goodwill has no choice, I box everything and drop it off. No itemizing.

Here in Keller we have one of what Goodwill is calling their "Goodwill Boutique" stores. Never been in it,but I remember reading about it when it opened.

It sells a little better quality merchants than the average GW store.

Guess we are just lucky.

Ah, never been inside the one I went to, just tried to drop stuff off but some lady looked in the boxes and said thanks but no.

Swap out radios with one that has a usb port for an I pod player. Even cd's are going by the wayside.

Probably correct on the heater core leaking. And if it is the core in that old of a vehicle, you might have a job on your hands if you want to replace it. I replaced a few in my older cars and they were located under the dash - usually on the right side. Somewhat difficult to get to.

Don't think the heater core has anything to do with an AC coolant leak as OP stated.

Whatever it is I'll find it under the dash I assume. Mechanic shop owner friend says it should be easy to detect with UV light and glasses. Then I'll find a Chevy forum and look for advice there. Lol. Thanks all.

Chevytalk.com is the place you want to go to. Haven't been there since I sold my 35 master sedan, but lots of knowledge there.
