We have a BP and a Phillips near us selling regular (87 Octane) for $2.90. The lowest diesel price is the Phillips at $3.20.

I heard that the United States is now the second largest oil producer in the world due in part to the Dakota oil fields.

$3.15 best price around here. We normally have some of the highest priced gas in the nation.

Don't think an election is driving this because it has gone down a little in Canada also, it's about time they got back to normal ( whatever that is).

Oil is down on the world market over 20% so its not just a U.S thing. For our American friends...at $1.18 a litre that's equivalent to 5.31 a gallon(Canadian Gallon)...that's 4.46/gal to the U.S gallon...there are 3.78 Litres to the U.S gallon...4.5 Litres to the Imperial gallon.
So you can see that the Canadian government is taxing us very heavily on gasoline...and they seem rather happy to be sticking it to us.

Earlier this week for a two hour period Shell sold gas for C$0.399 per liter at several stations in Calgary and Edmonton. That's the equivalent of about $1.34 a gallon when you factor in the exchange rate and conversion from liters to US. Gallons. Needles to say, by the time I found out about it the offer had finished.

If I see diesel get to $3 a gallon I'll fill my truck, tractor, and all cans. I haven't seen $3 diesel in 5 years.

Nope, we are now the number one oil and gas producer in the world. Why, because of good old American ingenuity. We invented the method to drill deeper with less enviromental impact.

$2.98 per gallon, four miles from the refiner here in west Texas. Had jumped up .14 for two days, however fell back .37 over night. Very rare for that much change in a three day period.

Not trying to be argumentative but are you sure it has nothing to do with Russia pulling back on production due to sanctions and the unrest in the Middle East which have a few thousand fields on fire and ISIS controlled that do not count?
