Get your twinkies while you still can

With Hostess announcing today, they are shutting down all operations....you may find twinkies and ding dongs hard to get. I am reading there is already a rush on them at the stores.

Hostess Brands is Closed

I went down to our local Food Lion and found NO Twinkies and two boxes cup cakes. I did buy a couple of boxes of Ding Dongs and a box of cup cakes.
Too bad. I grew up with their products. Paid 12 cents when I was a kid. A big treat, back then.
Maybe another food conglomerate will buy them out.
Excuse me while I eat my Ding Dong, or is it a Ho Ho?

I would like to know what labor leaders thought that no jobs was a better idea than the negotiated contract cut of $2.00 per hour (average pay of worker was $22.00 per hour) with no cut in benefits, even though benefit costs had risen 25% since last contract.

Per local morning news

If this turns out to be the truth, I don't blame Hostess one bit. Is it sad? Yes. Is It "wrong"? Not if your accountant cant even find his black pen.

On eBay, a box of twinkies is going for 2.5 million dollars with free shipping.

Lots of watchers but no bids yet.

Lots of Political BS around this one....Here in STL they anounced the closing of the plant here months ago. They are going through Chapter 11 for the second time and the unions are pi$$ed that they just gave the upper Exces a fat bonus(even though the compay is broke....i never get a raise when i dont perform) and asked the workers to cut pay and benifits. With the plant closing anyway planned next year they went on strike. The company also had mutiple closings scheduled in 2013 but now are using this strike as a skapegoat for a horribly mis managed and run company.

Just my opinion.

I was always partial to the apple and cherry fried pies....

I gained 5lbs just looking at those things. Hot cup of coffee is needed when you view their home page.

That's the problem with Corporate America these days.. It's all about short term gains and self centered / arrogant execs. In the this case the Union leaders contributed just as little. It's no longer about the business... Our country is going down the tubes as well with instant gratification and lack of sacrifice. "I can't afford to buy my family food but I have my beer & cigarettes!"

I thought about buying a lot of them and ebaying them off years from now, in case nobody buys the rights and starts producing them again. With all the preservative in them, they probably will still be good. LOL

This all reminds me of Woody Harrelson's character in the movie Zombieland....when he was trying to find Twinkies.

We have a Hostess outlet store directly across the road from our shop. I have been watching people this morning loading up their vehicles with stuff.

I walked over and got the last box of twinkies in the store, which were chocolate filled. My opening bid is $250.

Anyhow, the girl said they were closing the doors next week, and everything was half off.

I bought all kind of stuff then....powdered doughnuts, zingers, bread, ketchup, etc..........you know all kind of things I'll never eat.

That place is as bad as Harbor Freight.

Well, all those that were getting black market prices for twinkies are losing their cash cow. They have announced that the assets have been bought, and Twinkies should be back on store shelves starting in July, with other Hostess mainstays shortly after.
