Long time Cub fan here, since I was knee high. I have been disappointed so many times, starting from 1969.
The difference in this team, win or lose is that they are so young, and still have so many prospects. This is not a "must win now" feeling for me like '84, '89, '03 etc.
We will be around for a few years thanks to Epstein and what they have built.

I think Maddon is a great manager, and for 3-4 rookies in the lineup at any given time this year, they have exceeded my (and most people) expectations.

I think they have a great shot now of not only making it to, but winning the WS!

I've always wondered about that. Why is it, that we have several sports with World Championship monikers, yet we don't play or invite the world to participate.

Shouldn't we be US or perhaps North American Champions at best.

X2 The players are from all over the world, but MLB Champions are not "world" champions.

I think the simple fact that the players are from all over the world does make them the world champions. For the most part, the best players from each country are the ones already playing in MLB.

I'm willing to bet that if you took any current team from any other country and put them up against whoever wins the world series the MLB team would win a majority of the time.

Speaking of things that don't have a ring to them, the last 107 Cubs teams come to mind.

Surgery on Yadi's thumb. Pitchers and catchers don't report until February. Season opener April 4. Home opener April 11.

It's going to be a long winter.

That's funny. I would be willing to forgo the World Series for the next few years as long as we can Parade the Cup down Market St.

It's looking bleak right now for either the Cubs or Jays.
