Ok so all safe & sound in Taos about a 7 hour drive from Dodge City but the last hour or so was nothing but curves and hills oh and heavy rain at times just to mix things up a bit.
Beautiful area wonderful views, campground right in town but after seeing the choices there were feel we picked the best one. Taos Vally RV Park.

Russell the raft trip was great, it was not your normal commercial trip as it consisted of guides and their friends so a bit more aggressive and rowdy, think party barge. Our guide my son's friend is one of the more experienced guides that really knows the river, he also told us a lot of the way the river changes with different levels and also about the different rock walls along the way as he is also a climber.
We never lost anyone out of the raft but close a time or two, he even had his dog on board with her own doggie life vest. The rafting outfitter even had a nice spread for dinner which we could enjoy also as it was the last trip of the day, they are like a family and all so very friendly.

We have actually not had any issues with the thinner air, wife says she feels a little light headed at time but can not tell how she would know the difference

Well I not go there!! But one time we drove to top of Pikes Peak --wife & I and two grandkids. All four of us felt sick. Didn't think much of it. But once we started back down we all were fine. I think they say drink plenty of water ??

Russel the water helps plus he has something to add to help even more. We plan to do Pikes Peak also when we get to Colorado Springs but looking to take the cog up, our son has already driven it.

When at the top of Pikes Peak, use the rule of 12. Take 12 steps and then rest for a few seconds before you take the next 12. Not much oxygen up there. Take your time and enjoy the view and the donuts.
